    Default PS1 SCART?

I was wondering something... Does a PS1 SCART cable work with a US Playstaion/PSone?

I see there are some with composite hookups - it appears it is for the Guncon, but I take it the audio out is for hooking it up to a stereo system? I was thinking of getting a PS1 SCART cable with those hookups, and I'm curious.

I'm not sure about the PSOne. They may have omitted stuff like RGB to save money. The PS1 on the other hand should be fine.

PSOne has RGB.. Those little LCD attachments use it.

Yeah, those RCA connectors are pretty much so you can get a regular stereo out as well as use the Guncon. I have a little adapter thingie that does the same thing so I can still use the Guncon plugged into the video port while the PS1/2 is actually connected with component cables.

Why does the Guncon require it's own composite video feed? I never understood that. Namco guns are a pain in the ass.

Because their gun gets the Sync from Composite video.

Namco guns are different, and they likely take more resources to operate, but easier to wire up...

Not as easy to wire up as the Sega Light Phaser which just plugged in to the controller port, nothing more. No calibration screen, no video input, it just worked and it was accurate enough... certainly far more accurate than the Wii remote.

I have a PS1 light gun, and it's only controller port...

I think Segas light phaser did the same as NES zapper.. Find black, miss, find white, hit.

I'm not sure of the ins and outs of the technology, but the Guncon 1 was probably the best home light gun ever. It was quite a bit more accurate than the generic pre-Guncon PSX and Saturn guns.

Too bad I still like Sega's light gun games better. Ghost Squad + HOTD = <3

xbox light guns work the same as guncon..

even though the controller port on an xbox is USB, note it has FIVE pins, not FOUR.

When making the USB adapter for my xbox, i discovered the fifth pin was video SYNC..

That makes the idea the same as the guncon, as both use the video sync.

The Guncon 3 for the PS3 is probably the worst gun ever.

Goodness no. Wires all over the place, actually. One USB from the PS3 to the gun, and one USB from the PS3 to the weird lights you must hang off of the top front of your TV (one light on each corner).

Ahh, the gun doesn't see the TV period, it uses those lights to sense position.

I guess with LCD, CRT, and Plasma compatibility, it's required. Though, the Wii seems to do good even without the sensor bar.
