Default 32X cables explained (with pictures)

The 32X cabling question seems to come up all the time. When connecting a 32X to a Genesis I or a Genesis II the methods are slightly different. Genesis I installation uses a (in Sega's own lingo) "conversion cable" and a "connector cable". Genesis II only uses the "connector cable". For purposes of my photos to follow:

    Cable 1 = conversion cable
    Cable 2 = connector cable

The following illustrations show only the cables that directly connect the Genesis to the 32X. For full 32X installation, an AV cable is also required which connects the 32X AV OUT to your TV, stereo or VCR, etc.

Basically, to connect the Genesis to the 32X:
*for Genesis I installs, two cables are required (cable 1 and cable 2)
*for Genesis II installs, one cable is required (cable 2 only)

I think the photos are pretty self explanitory. At the very least these photos should help identify which cables are needed for your install and if you don't have cables, what parts you should be looking for.

I should add that I will not leave these photos up indefinitely, if you want to have them for future reference, please save your own copy. If the photos are missing when you read this, PM me and I'll repost or e-mail them to you.

    I hope this helps.

I explain the hookup here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUBmJkEvrMs
Customized Sega Genesis Model 1 - VA3. Energy efficient with buck converters instead of LM7805's.

I am disappointed that King's Famous Foot Long Hot Dogs are actually only 10 inches. I smell a lawsuit!

Budget cutbacks said they either lose 2 inches off the dog, or lose the chili-cheese curly fries.

I think they made the right choice.

Well, you got your wish and didn't even know it. This chain went out of business in the 1970's, probably due to frivolous lawsuits! (And they had the best burgers, onion rings and (real) chocolate malts EVER!)
