    Default Playstation Memory Card Problems

I bought a PSONE memory card for my PS2 so I could finally start saving my Crash Bandicoot 1 data on it. But for some reason, it won't save. It saves, but when I go to load my data it says empty. Whats wrong?

Does it have any other saves on it? You might want to delete some of the stuff you don't need. Is this a Sony brand card or a 3rd party brand card? Is this one of those mega-sized cards?

No, he said the game said it was empty. My point is, when looking at the card through the PS2 memory manager pages, how full is the card? Are there any other game saves on it at all? The GAME may see it as empty if the card is completely full and contains no Crash Bandicoot saves, but that doesn't mean it isn't full of other stuff.

The non-Sony brand cards sometimes have issues. I'd suggest deleting all the saves to entirely empty the card and trying it again. I don't recall if PS1/PS2 has a "format a memory card" feature but if it does, use that.

Memory card may need to be formatted.

Some games have options to format the card. One game being Sim City 2000..

That right there tells you the memory card is likely no good. Get a good PS1 card and your problems will be solved.

    There's your problem.

    Never buy 3rd-party cards. EVER.

The seller says I should try formating it on a non-slim PS2. Would that help?

No, just load a game that supports formatting...

Doesn't matter which formats the card, as long as it's in slot 1..

You'll need to figure out if any of your PS1 games support formatting. I know for a fact Sim City 2000 does. But that's all I know.

One last thing to try, is make sure the memory card contacts are CLEAN. On a slim it's picky.
