^That's one of my favourite Futuramas, I think

Anyway, N64 doesn't deserve blind hate. Starfox 64 (or Lylat Wars as they inflicted on Europe) is great - it's one of the best games, ever. So... nerr.

More reasons not to hate the N64: Mario 64 (despite the camera), Mario Kart 64 (even though the snes version is far superior), Smash Bros, Goldeneye (even though the single player mode is somewhat boring), Mischief Makers, Sin & Punishment, Diddy Kong Racing (up until that goddamned giant pig boss level), F-Zero X... Conker's BFD is funny in places, and South Park's ok too (cow gun!). Meh, I've even had fun playing the minigames on Pokémon Stadium with friends - not so much the main game though.

What Smii said (including the Futurama part)

Oh hey, this is the state something random thread. I should probably say something that isn't N64 related.
Err.... now for something completely different...

    I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay
I sleep all night and I work all day
I cut down trees, I eat my lunch
    I go to the lavat'ry
    On Wednesdays I go shopping
And have buttered scones for tea
I cut down trees, I skip and jump
I love to press wild flow'rs
    I put on women's clothing
    And hang around in bars
I cut down trees, I wear high heels
    Suspendies and a bra
    I wish I'd been a girlie
    Just like my dear papa

WARNING: A BEN 10 (AND ITS SPIN-OFFS), LICENSED GAMES, CARTOON NETWORK AND BOOMERANG RANT IS COMING UP

So yesterday marked the release of a game my little brother has been waiting for: Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Cosmic Destruction, available for basically every active console nowadays (yes, even the almost dead PS2. D3Publisher's USA division certainly loves to milk every single console with licensed crap). And whaddya know, he wanted me to buy it for him (for either the PS2 or the Wii. Thankfully he didn't ask me about the 360 version). I went to the nearest game store (which is the one I buy games from nowadays) and started looking through the PS2 games, looking for that piece of crap that is supposedly (at least in the eyes of my Ben 10-loving little brother) "the best game ever" (despite the fact that he didn't even PLAY the damn thing), when in fact the only ones they had were one based on the original Ben 10 and another on the sequel/spin-off Alien Force. So I asked the guy (a bald guy, very friendly) if he had any new PS2 games. He answered me with "No, I don't. They don't make new games for it anymore", despite the fact that they still make new games (mostly licensed crap. The PS2 has now turned into the GBA in its final years. Yippie). So instead I got another game, one which I thought he was gonna like (and also one that I wanted), Crash Nitro Kart. Originally I was going to get The Wrath of Cortex, but I heard that one wasn't very good (I wanted Twinsanity, dammit!), and I also didn't hear very good things about Tag Team Racing either (with one of my friends saying that they did an awful mix and that it was the worst Crash he played. He should play Crash Boom Bang! for the DS, then we'll see which one is the worst). So I got home, and the very first thing my little brother asked was if I bought that goddamned Ben 10 game, and when I answered him with a no, told him that they didn't have it and showed him that I bought CNK, he said "You bought that game?". And later he told me that that all Ben 10 games are better than any game. You read that right: he would probably take any game over those cash-ins. Yay, D3, you just made a kid prefer those pieces of crap over, you know, good games. So he would play Ben 10 Alien Force: Vilgax Attacks instead of a good game like Pac-Man World 2 or Crash Twinsanity. GREAT JOB!

And, again, I don't understand why in the heck kids love Ben 10 and its spin-offs/sequels so much. Sure, it's a pretty cool concept, but the shows suck (although we'll have to see if the same still applies to the newer one, Ultimate Alien). Instead of airing good things (I remember the Tex Avery Hour or something like that back in the early 2000's. It kicked ass), they focus on that. That crap. The present day Cartoon Network can go to hell. Thank god for Tooncast, because Boomerang has turned into crap too. Tween crap, this time. Instead of airing classic cartoons, they air crap 24/7

WARNING: YET ANOTHER RANT REGARDING NINTENDO IS APPROACHING REAL FAST (man, I love that G-Darius pre-boss quote)

Reading that reminds me of a top 11 list on a Mexican videogame magazine (that I've probably mentioned before), Atomix, which were completely Nintendo-biased (I once posted that one of their reviewers said on a review of the GBA Video carts that he "had never given such a low score to anything Nintendo") that was "Top 11 Franchises that Need to Die". Sonic was on the list, Phantasy Star too, Crash Bandicoot as well, and every EA Sports game (in one position). It was done in 2004 (and maybe taken from another site, since another of their Top 11's, "The Most Boring Games Ever", was credited to 1UP), but still, why the heck didn't they put Mario on the list? Sure, Sonic may have had some tough times back then, but that doesn't mean that it should end! And at least Sega releases Sonic games of the genre they should be: platformers. Unlike Mario, which has tons of (unnecessary) spin-offs. And Crash also has had some tough times in the early 2000's (aka after Crash Bash), but at least he had 1, maybe 2 games a year from 1996 'till today (although 2009 didn't see a new Crash game, there was only a Zeebo port of the Crash racing game for iPhone). And Crash Team Racing is much better than Mario Kart 64

Another layer to my dislike of the system. I was 15-16 when the thing came out. Doom and Duke were where I was at.

If you were a teen fresh off the SNES expecting the N64 to be a better, more mature console... well, that must have sucked.
    Yup.

And in a crowd that finds the good in the 32X!
    I don't like the 32X either.

I got burned out on "Doom" and I've never really gone back. I still hate Doom's vague levels, I liked Duke more as it had identifiable locations.

Interesting fact: I still have my "Duke Nukem 96" bumper sticker and pin from around the time of Duke3D's release.

I never really got into Duke Nukem, though i only played it a few times briefly, one of these days I'll have to play all the way through.

Duke is great. There's even a beefed up version of the engine with 3D acceleration that you can download off the net for free. You still need the Duke3D files though. Anyway, when the 16bit era was ending I remember seeing those Tekken commercials on TV and thinking "man that looks like crap". I also thought the Saturn was too damn expensive. Later I was going to buy one because of all the awesome games coming out, but then Sega canceled it. Honestly, until I played Mario64, I had no interest in 3D games at all. It was games like Final Fantasy 7, Castlevania: SOTN, and the soon to be released Metal Gear Solid that convinced me to get a playstation.
