I think it's a bootleg actually. They do make stupid choices, but I like the store. They're the kind of people who price all the Sega CD games for $12 each. It could be a factory sealed Snatcher, or a dirty ass Sewer Shark disc that has disc rot. It's the kind of game store you can score an awesome deal at.
There was another thing they had that was disgustingly over priced. They had a stack of Pokemon Gold cartridges with a message saying "does not save" for $20 each.
Also, I've packaged up 3 boxes to Sega-16 members, and 2 went to Nintendoage members. There will be a few people posting their hauls here soon!
Couldn't resist picking this up last week:
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the PS3, new for €33.
I already finished MGS2 and am now halfway through MGS3. MGS2 hasn't really changed much; the sound is nicer in 5.1, but the game and story are still as cooky as ever. MGS3 on the other hand, does benefit a lot from the sharper graphics and smoother framerate. Plus this is the Subsistence version of the game, with the third person camera, which makes the gameplay experience quite different. Slightly easier but far more pleasant.
And I also got a new PS2 Dual Shock controller today for €24. Think of it as future-proofing my hardware.
^They couldn't even bother to include the GameCube remake of the first part?
That would've been nice, yeah. But probably the exclusivity deal with Nintendo still holds. Bastards.![]()
Not without Nintendo's say, I'd imagine... Nintendo had a lot to do with the remake and I doubt they would allow a game they had a part in to be released on competing platforms. Silicon Knights (former Nintendo Second party)coded the game and Miyamoto himself was also involved.
Hopefully the Wii U will see an HD rema...errr...actually no...Current Nintendo would ruin that game with all sorts of crazy motion control gimmicks.

Here's the stuff I found this weekend!
2012-03-03 Finds Playstation 1 2 by xelement5x, on Flickr
Final Fantasy VII Black Label (PS1)
Frogger (PS1)
Chrono Cross (PS1)
Street Fighter Alpha 3 (PS1)
Mortal Kombat Trilogy (PS1) [New and Sealed]
Escape From Monkey Island (PS2)
All of those were $5 except for Monkey Island @ $6 and Frogger @$1.50. I think I can sell the MK Trilogy and Chrono Cross and make back my money. Looks like the last sealed MK went for like $50 on eBay.
2012-03-03 Finds NES by xelement5x, on Flickr
NES Cartridges
-10 Yard Fight
-Deja Vu
-Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
-Ninja Gaiden
-The Legend of Zelda (GOLD!)
-Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (GOLD!)
Most of these were pretty cheap, but the Zeldas and Ninja Gaiden were $5 each. I knew I had a gold Zelda but I didn't know if it was 1 or 2 and my wife and I couldn't agree on which so we picked up both. :\ Now I've got an extra Zelda II to get rid of, but at least the save battery still works!
I also picked up a lot of about 22 Saturn games off Craigslist this morning with discs and manuals (no cases or back inserts) for $25. There are a some gems in there so I'm excited to get home and test them out.
So, I've been building up my PS2 collection lately "getting close to 100 games". Most are complete, a few missing manuals, but I had one game in a shitty Gamestop case. R-Type Final. My local game shop has a copy I've been contemplating picking up to get rid of the one eyesore in my collection. I take it to the counter with some other games and the clerk can't find the disc, so I ended up getting the case and book for free. Seeing how I already had the disc I was pretty happy about this.
Other games I got.
PS2 : Motocross Mania 3
PS2 : Rampage, Total Destruction
PS2 : Adventures of Cookie and Cream
N64 : Starwars, Shadows of the Empire
Gamecube : Chibi-Robo
Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Hugo, and Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season
Street Fighter X Tekken

puyo puyo 2 5 cib
playstation 1
duke nukem cib 1 euro
well i have a spare cib ghostbusters right now maybe i can trade it for another game
Comix Zone ($8.00, CIB with CD)
Great game, but probably one of the most lulzy bonus pack-ins ever (especially in retrospect, I mean these bands are pretty obscure, maybe it's just me). But I guess the Fruit Rollups 'promo' was weaker.
Aladdin ($3.00, CIB)
Mobile Suit Gundam Side Story Parts 1 and 2 ($9 and $5, respectively)
Why don't these games get more attention? Or a better question, what's with the kooky digipack packaging?

Thunder Force V - $59
Even as a long-time fan of Technosoft's shooters and the Thunder Force series in general, I don't know what to think about TFV. I've played it off and on for several years (yay for chipped Saturns), but even after giving it many chances there's just no way it can eclipse TFIV/Lightening Force as the pinnacle of the franchise. The music is stellar - on par with III and IV's OSTs with the added power of CD-quality sound, but the 'early 3D' graphics are a major turn-off. Lightening Force's pixel art was impeccable, and Darius Gaiden (another Saturn hori shmup) mixes 3D and 2D to a much more appealing effect. I would have much preferred another 2D installment with zero slowdown and zooming/scaling and other 32-bit niceties. That said, it still plays mostly like TF even if the Free Range is broken, and the music kicks so much ass.
