    ChaseTheChuckwagon.com vs. Ebay Cost Comparison

Here is an interesting thread discussing our costs vs. Ebay costs for selling and listing items. It is very interesting. Please notice how many of their items are selling and I think you will all be surprised.

This proves that a new auction alternative is viable and will compete with Ebay. I hope this convinces many of you to try it out. You have nothing to lose

This is a cool site with some potential. I'm curious, where did the name come from? As a gamer I can't see any direct relation to gaming. I'm wondering if this hurts the site in terms of it growing and becoming the ebay for all things gaming.

The game was a promotional item by a dog food company, you got it by mail order. If you look at the atariage rarity guide, it has a rating of 8, Very Rare+

Default The reason behind the name

Good question. As was already explained here, it was a rare Atari 2600 cartridge that was born from a promotion for Purina Chuckwagon Dogfood back in the early 80's. Basically, if you bought so much dog food Purina would mail you this game cartridge for your Atari 2600. The promotion kinda sucked and very few of these games actually made it into consumer's hands. This was really considered to be the first "Holy Grail" in video game collecting and thus has become synonomous with finding that one great video gaming find as in "Chasing The Chuckwagon" the Chuckwagon being the Holy Grail you are searching for. So it seemed like a great choice for a video gaming auction site that can be used for searching for your "chuckwagon". So it has quite a bit of significance within the history of gaming.

The logo also uses an NES system in the picture and thus kind of ties two generations of gamers into the name. This logo came from a design contest I held on my other website: http://www.chasingthechuckwagon.com.

And, here is a wikipedia entry for the game:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chase_the_Chuck_Wagon

Hope you consider joining. We have lots of Sega Master System games and some Genesis games on there now.

Default Nearly 1,000 Items Listed For Auction On ChaseTheChuckwagon.com

I felt we are approaching a momentus occasion on ChaseTheChuckwagon.com. When we launched only a little over 4 months ago, our idea was met with more than a little skepticism. But as time has gone by, I think ChaseTheChuckwagon.com is filling a nice little niche within the auction world.

Here are some interesting tidbits of information and statistics since we launched:

    • Briskly grown to over 670 members, averaging over 160 new members each month . . . and growing.
    • Listed over 6,000 Items
    • Sold over $19,000 in Goods
    • Introduced an active community forum where members can get to know one another

We have risen into the top 120,000 Websites in the USA and around 550,000 worldwide. I know these are still big #'s but considering there are over 10 Millions website worldwide, in four short months the Chuckwagon is doing amazingly well. In addition to the 670+ members we are seeing tons of traffic each and every day which means people are bookmarking us and will register when they see something they want.

If you have yet to join, what are you waiting for. ChaseTheChuckwagon.com is less expensive to sell on, has a great variety of classic and modern gaming items getting listed each and every day, and will continue to grow for ever. It's not going anywhere. It's all about choices and now gamers everywhere have a legitimate choice for gaming auctions.

Climb on board the fastest growing internet auction site dedicated to gamers.

Pretty good numbers for a new site. Grats Mike. I just signed up. I have 100's of games a dozen+ systems I'd like to sell in a store and was thinking of doing it on ebay. Truth be told, I'm getting tired of ebay and paypal always leaning to the buyers side of things. I'm gonna give your auction site a try and see what happens.

Ok, I went ahead and listed Bust-A-Move 4 for the Sega Dreamcast. We'll see how things go. And oh, pretty easy to list items.

    Thanks Strider -

Glad to have you aboard. I think you will find out that just like on Ebay some things sell and some things take a few listings before they sell. The good thing about the Chuckwagon is you won't pay for the listings if the items don't sell Please consider participating in our forums as well -- lots of great people in there discussing lots of differnt things related to the auction site.

You can also set up a free store on the Chuckwagon by logging in to your members area, clicking on Seller Tools and then on Homepage Content along right side of the screen. You can then attach this URL to your sigs and help bring people to your auctions.

Let me know if you have any questions about anything and hope to see more of your auctions get listed. You may want to consider our $50 Lifetime Seller Members which will be offered only for a few more days. With this you would never pay any auction fees again on the Chuckwagon. This is turning into a great deal as the site has been growing by leaps and bounds.
