It would be interesting to these high score threads alive again...
Last time I played Sagaia seriously I got this high score. Default settings, route ABEINSY.

My personal best score is 6,867,790. I don't remember the route, as it was a while ago. However, one time, I got a score of 23,432,810. I have no clue what I did, how I did it, or where I did it, but I was floored, and wrote it down. Maybe there's some gigundo bonus somewhere? A glitch on that play through?

Weren't you playing in that crazy mode where you have all stages one after the other? I think you gotta press C like 20 times in the options screen to get it.
I never played it seriously, and I now suspect anyway that this mode was over after 10 stages.

Well, I gave the special mode a whirl. Beat it without dying, and only broke six million. A-F are basically super short stages with a boss fight at their end. G and H are full stages, I-K are short stages with the first three final bosses, and L is a long stage where you fight all the mid bosses, and then the last final boss. With all that blasting, it didn't add up to twenty-three million.

I finished my runs. hehehe
I played both the US and JAP versions to check on differences but none was found. I tried everything to break the 6,8M but could not get it - beat the game on normal & hard in every path possible, trying not to miss any enemy wave (those pesky five enemies that go up/down are tough to kill for the 5.000 points in the beginning of the game).
My final score was 6.789.590, final stage being lower Z.
