There was a game store I went to that based their prices on their inventory and how often they got a used copy of said game. For instance, about two years ago (before they moved away) they 12 copies of MUSHA all were $9 each because they had so many. Certain games were a given, like Sonic and Vectorman were .25 cents CIB. But this would backfire too, if it were a game the owner never heard of and never saw they just assumed it was rare and would over charge (Splatterhouse 3 CIB going for $90 for instance). So there really is no good "fair" way to do it except bidding. Most of the time, we have to eat a high price if its a few dollars more simply because of a perception rather than reality.

if I understood the OP, his idea is to complement a rarity guide.

I like the idea of the OP. Rarity values are feeded by the users + I have the game. Technically, just add 2 fields / one table in the DB. and update the page to show rarity value and #number of people owning the game.

have that only people with like 50 posts may input rarity values

EDIT and make it public who gave what rarity value.

But ownership of a game by fans on a fan website won't give a true rarity value. Since people on here seek out and want to have the rare games, you would quite likely end up with a common but terrible game nobody wants coming out as being rarer than a genuinely rare game.

A rarity list also has a negative effect, as people end up taking the list as fact, and use the guide price as a starting price when selling. And people often end up buying games purely for their rarity value, not to play them, driving prices up for those that do really want them.

    YES COMPLETY TRUE
that s why had to pay 150 euro s for snowbrothers cause everybody says it s rare there only 2000 made or something like that
and 10 euro s for gleylancer cause the men didn t now what he was selling
why others ask 100 euro s for the sam game

no listing of rare games cause then the folks who are selling there old stuff and maybe read this gonna sell expensive and that s not what i need

i m a dutch man yes i m a little greedy but to spend 150 euro s on a game that i yust play from time to time cause i was in a bidding war stupid that i was cause everbody was saying it was rare

    SO NO RARITY LIST
cause every dumb dick is gonna sell his games expensive cause it s rare

The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

Before we start such a simplistic guide we should let it be. 3 ratings are a joke.

Just change EA sports to ultra common or something than we can get started.
