Favorite Defunct Auto Maker?

Okay, one of my favorite things is old cars. I have an '84 Datsun/Nissan 300ZX (the last year they put a Datsun badge on the back too!) and I love it to death. Poor girl is finally running good again. But Nissan/Datsun/whatever is still with us.

So what is your favorite automaker that is no longer around? You needn't own said car, but if you could, what would it be?

My favorite would be Duesenberg, but that no longer counts

They've come back! The new Duesenberg Torpedo is due out sometime next year so they are defunct no more.

So the runner up is going to have to AMC (I know this is a far far cry from Duesenberg) But I f-ing LOVE the Hornet. The 1977 AMX is just a cool looking car. Granted they came out with some shit cars, but I also love the Javelin.

My favorite defunct motorcycle maker would have to be BSA (british southern arms) who still have a proxy in India but its a shell of what it used to be...

duesenberg is great (and possibly coming back) packard is another. Alfa romeo never really went away except in the states and will soon return (can't wait to buy one!)

I took a friend's 6.9 mercedes for a spin yesterday (star car of the movie ronin) sweet ride.

At the rate things are going, you'll soon be able to add GM, Chrysler, and Ford to that list.

Ford stock is down to $2 a share right now, Gm is little less then $5 and Chrysler is privately owned. Even Honda is down to $20. They usually hover around $30-40 last I checked. Times are bad but it also may be time to make a killing off of it. My great Grandfather bought a shit load of dirt cheap Chrysler stock when they were a publicly traded company in the last 70's. This when the government had to bail them out. A few years later the minivan came out and then his stock was worth quite a bit.

I know Delorean of Houston has started making them again, but it doesn't really count since the new cars are made almost entirely of old stock. That's like saying Nintendo is still making the NES because someone had some old never used NES parts and started putting them together and selling them.

Maroon is offensive, that person needs to be hung and left out for vultures to eat his/her remains.
