    Default Automotive Security

Is there point where it can be excessive?

My '03 Grand Am is out for the count because this security shit in the ignition switch went out... And its a common problem too.

THANK YOU PONTIAC! I was hoping to take leave next week, and now I am stuck on base... but the again I'm broke as hell anyway, so gas $$ is limited.

Other than that, the car is awesome. I treat my cars like shit... and this car is almost as durable as the Taurus. Man I miss that car....

    Mine is an '03...but damnit!
The smell of scorched oil hangs in the air as a premonition of danger, while the engine gloriously shouts its war cry...

Throughout history, suspicion has always bred conflict. The real conflict, though, resides in people's hearts. This conflict has just begun.

Is there an Autobody shop nearby? They may be able to fix it quick. Usually those security features can be turned off or bypassed if they are starting problems with the ignition.

my caprice had an aftermarket alarm that went kaput.

i would be driving and the car just stall dead, and can't start until 10 minutes have passed, exactly 10 minutes.

the alarm box was dead.. whats worse, no alarm dealer would admit it as the fault and refused to remove it but flick the deactivate switch (which does absolutely nothing for a faulty alarm!!)

i finally found the wiring diagram and soldered the ignition wires together from the ignition cell to the starter, door switch, etc and all has been good for the past 3 yeas.
