Default Dreamcast Analong Stick likes to wander

I got a new pad the other day, and I noticed the analong likes to pop in and out and sorta wanders. How can I fix it?

    By wandering, it gets stuck.

when you say new, do you mean new to you or new out of the box? Also, when you say "pops in and out" do you mean pops out of its little nub or jumps around the screen? If its used and you mean jumps around the screen, the spring, magnets, or PCB that determines position is screwed up and probably unfixeable. You might get lucky and its just that one of the magnets is a little loose, which you could probably fix with glue.

It is new in the sense that it is new to me, but it was used, but the analong likes to stick to the upper right.

I noticed that too, dont think you can do anything about it. Its just made like that. Mine does that when I pull it down and to the right and let it go it pops like its caught on something.

Dismantle the stick and put it back together, and do a small clean... this thing is really easy to take apart and put back together. DC analog stick is the best I've used so far. Magnets+Sensors FTW.

Well, I took it apart, played with it some and then put it back together, and sure enough that fixed it... we'll say for now.

does it creak or move kind of jerky when you move the joystick? I've had a few that it seemed the spring was a little rusty or something. I don't know how people manage to screw up joysticks so much. I have a few PS2 controllers with joysticks that wander a little, but that's after hours and hours of playing and its just because they're worn and loose, not just bashed like others I've seen.
