    Sonic Mazin Saga: Mutant Fighter

Everyone who likes Japanese animation knows of Mazinger Z. The classic series has been cultivating a fanbase for almost four decades, and there has been everything from toys to video games based on the character. The Genesis got something of a "remixed" version of Mazinger Z in Vic Tokai's Mazin Saga: Mutant Fighter, a re-imagined telling of the mythos through some side-scrolling beat-'em-up action and a few stiff fighting scenes. We have a full review for you, so read on!

I have this, and I completely agree... a decent, if sub-par, beat 'em up is pretty much completely ruined with the impossibly hard and horribly designed fighting game segments. It's too bad, it definitely could have been good... but the fighting segments destroy it.

boss fights are hard but you have to find there pattern of their attack and then they become easy
even in the beat em up apartment it s much better then double dragon or battle toads
it s a fantastic game and a game that i still play from time to time
even that i beat it on all difficulty levels it stills shines for me
maybe it s a game for hardcore gamers who aren t shy for a dirty fight
    i would give this game a 7

The fighting scenes make this game simply unplayable.

Great game. Love the graphics but hate the fighting parts.

EDIT: Reminded me of power rangers, lol

If the fighting parts are just as bad as Heavy Nova's then I'll get this game!

I find that this game has really great music, but that is where the greatness ends. The sprites in my opinion are really small and the game itself is really average that it doesn't stand out either way.

Anyway I find that when the character grows, to fight the one on one, this is where the gameplay is great. It has great animation and is really enjoyable to play.

The game arrive today and I gotta say. Its pretty good, not the best, but above average. I really like how moving the game is, like its not just a standing sprite but many packed for each foe and boss. Its got ok music and the lvls get creative as it keeps going, like the lvl where you being chased by a giant skull trying to push you off the cliffs. I say, go check it out.

It's alright if you don't mind the versus parts; I don't.
    A 2p mode would've been great.

If it wasn't for those versus fighting segments and the game were two player it would've been a great beat-em-up. As it stands it's more of a curiosity. I can't say I really enjoy the strange twist on Mazinger Z either.

I personally think this game is rather good and it has some of the best graphics on the Megadrive.
To be this good takes AGES, to be this good takes SEGA!

Been getting into this one again lately. Trying to beat it.

Edit: Beat it. Those 1-on-1 fighting stages were a bitch. Great graphics though!

Overall, a respectable but flawed 5.5/10.

Haha i've never heard about Mazinger Z until i played this game.
It has some great visuals and art design, but what really bothers me its the music: it's one of the worst music that i've heard coming out of the MD.You really need to turn the volume down to play this one; which is a shame, because i really enjoy good music in gaming , especially on the MD. The vs. fighting scenes are okay for me.
The awful music( especially ) and the really high difficult level has putted this game on hold for me.
That being said, i think that MS is a good game and a worth addition to the awesome MD library.
