A great title that makes good use of its license, X-Men 2: Clone Wars is proof that not all licensed games have to suck. Read the review and see why.

Does anyone else have this game? I picked it up yesterday, and it seems strange to me that there's no title screen (or even the SEGA logo) on start-up. I get the "Produced by or under license from Sega Enterprises Ltd" screen and then it immediately goes to the first stage with a randomly selected mutant, and I basically have to reset until it gives me the one I want to play as.
It just strikes me as odd that there is no SEGA or title screen, or even a way to choose who I want to play as. Any chance I got a pirated cart or is it supposed to be like that?
e: never mind, I just checked wikipedia. I guess it's supposed to do that.

Nope, you play through the first level as some random character (usually Beast) and THEN you get all the titles. It's weird, I know. But I guess they planned it that way for some reason.
Yeah, it is a bit strange. From what I've read, your character is selected based on which direction you're holding on the d-pad when the game boots up. Perhaps Beast is the default (no direction pressed) option.
This game was like they addressed most of the mistakes in the first (hideous, in my opinion) X-Men game. And, thankfully, the game was not only good looking, but also not TOO hard, and fun to play.
yea the avgn just did a thing on the xmen games
make sure and visit my album
Both X-Men games for the Genesis are great. I actually have more of a fondness for the first one if you can believe it but the second one is literally a masterpiece. Perfect animation, perfect level design, and great music.
!!
Hey Melf, can you edit the score for this review? I gave it an 8, and it originally said 8 when it was put up, but somehow it morphed into a 7.

You just can't handle my jawusumness responces.
Done.
I think this game might have broke the reset button on my Genesis. I always used to constantly reset the game until I would get the character I wanted to play.
Because of my broken reset button I can no longer beat the original X-men game anymore.
Maybe I just suck at it, but this game feels really difficult to me. Perhaps I need to spend more time getting acquainted with the various Mutants and their powers, but I've never been able to make it past the second level.
Finally played through this game this week and I really am in love with it. I keep on replaying it to try and master each level with different characters. I have mad respect for this cart even though it took me a long to warm up to it!
I know I am more than a little behind the curve here, especially being an fan of the comics, movies, and original Genesis game, but I finally picked up a copy on Ebay.
CIB including shipping for $14! Not a super price, but pretty decent compared to all the greedy pig bastard sellers over there.
