The game just doesn't feel as epic as Strider, and the atmosphere isn't to the same level (not surprising though really, as Strider has more atmosphere than virtually any other game of its kind in the era).

Generally I'd just say that mainly the presentation isn't to the same level, and the set-pieces, and enemies etc, aren't as impressive, or memorable. On the other side though Run Saber is pretty cool, its boss fights are quite interesting, and it has a 2-player option, which is always an excellent plus in my book, the game is also probably the more accessible of the two, it doesn't require as much practice as Strider to master.
This is quite a good précis.

Then go for the JP version of Strider. Or Strider 2 on PS (though I always thought the G/MD games the hardest you should find it closer than Run Saber). There's also that Strider like arcade title somebody here could help you find (eddiespruce knows it) if you use MAME.

Every Strider fan should play Osman/Cannon Dancer. It's the spiritual successor from director Koichi Yotsui and feels much more like a true Strider sequel than the official ones. It's a shame his more recent Strider-ish game, Moon Diver, was so disappointing.

And thenewguy perfectly described Run Saber.

Osman is one I need to give more play time to. Edward Randy needs some love as well.
Game Pilgrimage <-- Not as cool to talk about as it is to denigrate other forum goers.

I like that game as well although it didn't quite live up to my personal hype of how long I waited to play it. I first saw a pic of it in the arcade section of a PC Engine magazine I bought in 1990. I thought it looked amazing but never found it in any local arcade.

You'll have no choice but to fall into the pit and die to get to the final boss.
There there the noob has spoken. What more needs to be said? What do Ninny blowers like you know about Genesis Nintendon't games?

The game might have had some glitches but it was way ahead of its time, great platforming (if a little jumpy at times, excuse the pun).

Here is a wallpaper i made of it recently to remember the great hair do, even if you don't like the game, you have to agree with that..

    Thumbs up

You should consider putting Ton Pooh, Sai-Pooh, and Bei-Pooh jumping high in the air with the centipede-like boss Ouroboros crawling in the background! That would be a pretty epic wallpaper!
The fictional character Gordon Gekko once stated,"Greed, for lack of a better word, is good". Gekko is sometimes unfairly judged. There is a big difference between maintaining one's moral compass in business and that which operates in one's personal life. In business, the reality is that if you are not willing to crush your competitor, you might as well get out of the game while you're still ahead.
