    Default Two Crude Dudes

Data East offered many games to the Genesis library, and among the best of them was Two Crude Dudes. An arcade port, the Genny version manages to maintain all the fun and humor of the original, without losing much of its game play in the transition to console.

It's a good action sidescroller that's a decent port of the arcade orginal, Crude Busters.

I have fond memories of this game, I used to have a friend in school when i was 16
who lend me a couple of his Sega games once, and Two Crude Dudes was one of them.

that must have been 1993/94, then a decade later i got it from Ebay just for the good memories.

Good game, better with a friend though.

Ken I just read this review and when it starts talking about the music it seems as if there's a portion of the review missing. Can you look this over and fix it?

Not a great arcade port. Too much missing animations and backgrounds. You wouldnt miss it if you hadn't played the arcade version but if you did the stuff missing is noticeable.

I tried the arcade version after the Genesis port, and the gameplay mechanics just felt wrong. The Genesis version may be missing stuff, but I like it much better.

I've been telling this for years: controls are almost broken on the arcade, it's a nasty coin-eater.
This port is the only truly playable game in the end of the day.

I didn't really like this game at all, but I ended up trading for The Hyperstone Heist. So everything worked out.

On the subject of playability over the arcade original, Altered Beast Arcade! Slow clunky attacks, character reaction time, and odd hitboxes. Good luck fending off a multitude of enemies when they're swarming you.

The Genesis version however, plays like butter. Enemies swarm to no avail when i have responsive controls and proper hitboxes to land an attack.

I just went back to this game and finished it on the easiest difficulty and it took me about four of five tries. I still think this game is overrated and the review is too kind. Still, I guess it's worth a look but only gets a 5/10 for me.

    I feel the same.

I enjoy a lot the visuals and the theme of the game. And being able to hit your enemies with poles, traffic lights, abandoned cars, is so funny!

Solid game. The graphics are fine despite being cut down from the arcade, I haven't played the arcade version so no comment on playability differences. I hear the original does not hold up to the MD port though.

Awesome music courtesy of Terpsichorean, Hitoshi Sakimotos sound engine.

They don't make games with a theme quite like this one any more.
