    Default Altered Beast

It’s been fifteen years since Altered Beast was originally released, and it has aged poorly. Its very simple gameplay consists of a screen scrolling from left to right (forcibly) and punching and kicking a small selection of monsters. Two players can play simultaneously but the large sprites make it uncomfortable at times.

Does anybody else think that Altered Beast would make a great FPS on the Wii? I sure do. Great review, thanks again. You sure have been busy.

    rise from your grave!!!!

Amazing game. How I got the cart was that I was hanging out with my friend and he took me to some random guys house. I saw that he had the cart and said "Wow, you have altered beast. I always wanted that game but never got the chance to pick it up" The guy then picked it up and handed it to me. "Here, take it"

I still have it today. It has the word "KANI" written on the cart. I think that was his last name.

    lol

I got addicted to this one on one of those Sega TV-play games. I recently picked up a boxed cart with not one but two manuals for 2.50. Yes, it has aged poorly but I can't help to admire its classic campy style!

Just got a near-mint complete copy, the thing looks new, in exchange for a 7800 game I didn't want. It was a sweet deal to me!

Mine rattles when I shake it. Is that bad? Still works though

I've had a bunch of games that rattle. If you have a gamebit, you can open it up and take out whatever tab has broken off inside.

I've also had a few rattlers, most of the time its something loose, sometimes its just a matter of tightening the screws.

now back to the topic. Good game, but I wouldn't say its amazing, the cheesy old voices are funny though.

It's funny, but in 2009, that's pretty much the most appealing part of the game for me. I'm hopelessly old-school, I guess.

Yes, but the review was done in 2004.

I never liked this game for some reason. Maybe I should pick it up again.

To be fair it's not very good, and was roundly mocked back when the MD/Genesis was still alive, but it does have a cheesey appeal.
