    Default Different MD/Genesis console boxes

So i've been collecting MD console box variations for a while now and i was wondering just how many different boxes there are out there. I reckon i have a pretty good idea of the ones released in the UK, but how about other parts of the world. I know there were a few very nice releases in Portugal for example and i've heard rumours of a couple of Swedish only editions too.

So put up a description and a picture if available of any interesting Box designs/variations you come across.

I'll chuck a few pics up when i get a minute of some of my favourites i've seen over the years

All I remember is that it had screenshots of Altered beast all over it, and that it was destroyed in the Great Basement Flood of '00.

Here is my contribution. My original launch box/system that I got for Christmas in 1989.

The box is the Canadian version distributed by IRWIN Electronics (SEGA hadn't set up distribution in Canada at the time). The box is bilingual (English & French) but other than that I'm pretty sure it's the same as the US version.

    Forgot i started this!!!

Here's a few pics of my favourites, i'll post more when i get a minute. Might even post a group shot of the ones i have if i can find the time to arrange them all.

I think this one is by far the sexiest box, I recently purchased one after 2 years of searching for it so i'll post some better pics when it arrives

I don't own the next few, but they are all high on my search list. One day .

Smurfs cardboard outer sleeve, From a French auction-seller wouldn't ship out of France or accept Paypal so i lost out on this one .

Sonic Compilation cardboard outer sleeve. This one was sitting on ebay.uk for about 5 months with a high Buy It Now price for the bad condition(£49.99 iirc). This is one of three variations of the Sonic Compilation pack in i have seen. Others include a standard size MD2 box with a full box length sticker of Sonic on the right side and a Smaller sized MD2 box with a smaller sticker on the right hand side.

Jungle Book. I really want any info anyone has on a European version of this set. To date the only ones i have seen are Australian releases. These came packaged in a white box with a complete outer box displaying the game package. I'm pretty sure a European version will have been released as there is Game Gear and Master System versions of the package both with cardboard outer sleeves, yet to see one though

Portuguese Mega Games and Sonic cardboard outer sleeve release. I don't really know much about this one other than i want one. The one pictured was sold on maiu.pt the other month. It was the first one and the last i i have seen. The seller wouldn't ship outside Portugal and didn't seem very interested in selling it TBH. Any more info on this one?

I'll post some more pics when i get a minute, the majority of them are on my hard drive so i need to upload them to photobucket first.

Seems like the Portuguese version of the (German?) "Magnum Set".

The box variants I have, all German PAL:

    - MD1 (pure) but with Sonic sticker
    - MD1 Sonic 1 pack, in "Magnum Set" cardboard sleeve
    - MD2 (pure) with Aladdin cardboard sleeve

The cardboard sleeves I would be willing to give away if you'd cover P&P to the UK (and maybe send me some cheapo game or accessory you don't need anymore).

Now those are awesome, I wasn`t aware of all the different boxes, I have seen some slight variations but not entire boxes themed. And yes ninjabearhug the sonic & knuckles is the sexiest!

The Streetfighter II box is pretty damn cool too. I'll post some more tomorrow when i get a minute for everyone to drool over .

@Segs: I think the Australian Jungle Book set did come with 2 Disney games. I'm pretty sure the back of the package has two game descriptions on it. I have a photo of the back of the box too so i'll stick that up as well for reference .

Europe sure loved their Mega Drive. I've never seen such creative box arts and bundles here in the U.S......for any console.

    A few more interesting versions.

    Asterix

Two nice ones in this pic, FIFA outer sleeve and i would like to know more about the top middle one. Any French members tell me who the guy on the box is?

NBA JAM cardboard sleeve. The one pictured is from Oz, I've seen a few but haven't bought one yet as they've all been missing the free watch.

    More soon
