Default Game Genie codes for pirate games

Ahoy mates. Pirates be givin' me troubles. Anybody have any Game Genie codes needed to play pirated / hacked games on a Genesis? (Paging CMA Death Adder, master and ruler of obscure trash from Taiwan...and awesome RPGS, and hopefully Magic Bubble. )

I recently stumbled into a wealth of craptastic hacks and pirated software. Picked them up for cheap after trying them in an emulator. Sure enough, they're not loading on my Genesis.

I've heard Game Genie / Pro Action Replay codes are supposed to work around the lockout. I found a bunch of Pro Action Replay codes, but they're not working. Game Genie is my last hope before modding my system. Any ideas?

Here are the games in question:

Ghost Hunter (remake of Super Pang)
    Link Dragon
    Shui Hu Feng Yun Zhuan
    Super Mario Bros World
    Sonic Jam 6
    Yang Warrior Family
    Super Bubble Bobble MD

Thanks in advance. Can't believe these games are protected...

    Did somebody say, "Taiwan"?

Ok... but I don't quite understand... if you bought authentic copies of these unlicensed "pirate originals" (which is the meaning I take from your having said, "picked them up for cheap"), they should boot on ANY Genesis or Mega Drive system. Taiwanese games are developed specifically to be region free, bypass the TMSS via their own special method, and all that jazz. There's no lockout. The Chinese laugh at lockout.

If you bought cheap imitations (i.e. someone just burned or flashed the dumped ROMs and sold them to you), then sure, you're going to have troubles. Most of those games have protection against piracy. Pirates dislike other pirates, y'know?

So you may wish to be more specific about the source of your games.

Out of all the games you listed, only Shui Hu Feng Yun Zhuan and Super Bubble Bobble MD have any kind of protection that would need to be circumvented via the use of a Game Genie code, or the like - but that's only if you don't own "original" copies of the games. Like I said, they aren't region protected.

Did you try cleaning the cartridges? The only other thing I can suggest is that perhaps the damn things aren't fitting well enough through the system's cartridge slot. Taiwanese MD games are often produced with Japanese MD style plastic shells, thus unable to fit in a US Genesis console. Even if you shove 'em in there real good, or use a Super Mega Key to bridge the gap, some of 'em still won't boot.

    So... specifics, man... specifics!

    did someone say "Pirates"? arr

If the dump was bad, then sometimes a game won't run properly even when flashed to a cartridge. So, do you own the actual cartridge, or are these games simply flashed after you've found a rom beforehand? Because if that was the case, then ARP/GameGenie codes won't be any help either.

Shui Hu Feng Yun Zhuan, Super Mario Bros World, Sonic Jam 6 and Yang Warrior Family shouldn't make any problems; I've got these games myself, and they run properly on both my PAL Genesis model II and on my Nomad.
The funny thing about an oxymoron is, even if you remove the ox, there'll always be a moron. The Question Remains: Y?

I know you tried PAR codes, but since I know this guy on youtube got Puzzle Bobble working with this code, I'll give it anyway in case you had a different one

    Doubt it will help

My pirates sailed in from Evil Bay - Hong Kong, to be exact. To my knowledge, I have no way of determining whether or not the carts are authentic. None of them have cases, but they all have labels (some of which promptly fell off; par for the course). The cart shells are identical in size to those of a Japanese Mega Drive game; should be no trouble when used with Game Genie, Pro Action Replay, Mega Key, etc. Right?

The seller has been around for awhile, and maintains excellent feedback. I'm sure some of you would recognize the name. Out of courtesy (yes, even for pirates), I'll refrain from discussing the particulars until I hear back from the seller. For what it's worth, I bought Magic Girl from the same individual, and had no problems whatsoever.

I tested all the games after a thorough cleaning. Still no success. Shiver me timbers.

Then, very likely, they are bootlegs of pirate originals. Or, if you prefer, bootlegs of bootlegs. As the original copies of these games come from Taiwan.

Regardless of this, Hong Kong produced versions of the games should have no problems running on your system, because the publisher would've either produced them with the exact same software+hardware as the originals, or removed/disabled any protection and simplified the design for cheaper production.

As I said, in either case there's absolutely no lockout to worry about, and the only protection routines would've been written to stop unauthorized copies of the games from being made - not from getting the games to run on a different region machine.

In theory, yes. However, some of these games may 'detect' something being placed between them and the Genesis, and not like it (i.e. it could trigger their copy protection or reduce their already weak signal output), thus refusing to work. This has happened to me before, with some of the cheaper made cartridges out of China.

Your best bet isn't to muck around with the stupid Game Genie, PAR, and so on, and rather, to widen the cart slot of your Genesis so you can plug cartridges of all sizes directly into your machine with no need for a passthru. For the moment, however, you may wish to just unscrew and remove the top plastic portion of your Genesis, just to be able to plug in these cartridges and do a proper test.

Sure, but that's a Gamtec game which I don't think was bootlegged in Hong Kong, so it was likely an original Taiwanese cart that you bought. Their stuff works pretty flawlessly...

You're just having bad luck, is all. Try the method I recommended above (removing the top of your console) and report the results. If that doesn't work, my guess is you either have a dirty Genesis or your cartridges are faulty.

    Y'arr.

Cue Iggy Pop & David Bowie - here comes success! Sure enough, everything works when plugged directly into the Genny's cartridge slot. My system resmbles a 16-bit PEZ dispenser at the moment, but that's an easy fix.

Massive thanks to everyone, especially CMA Death Adder. Super Fighter Team: Today Taiwan, Tomorrow The World.
