    heart Fire Shark

There are a string of classics created by Toaplan from 1986ís Slap Fight to 1993's Batsugun, each brilliant and somehow unique in its own way. Right in the middle of this pack lies Fire Shark. A close cousin to other Toaplan titles like Sky Shark and Twin Cobra, it features a bi-plane set against waves of tanks, boats, cannons, and airplanes, over cities, forests, oceans, deserts, and tundra. This isnít a game that redefines shooters in any obvious way, but each element is fine-tuned to perfection, and retains a timelessness all its own.

Another overrated shooter. 7/10 is good enough for this one.

The only must have genesis shooters IMO are-
    MUSHA
    lightening force
    Thunder force II
    Thunder force III
    Eliminate down
    Twin hawk

Fire Shark > Twin Hawk, and I actually prefer it to Thunder Force II as well.

I agree. I really like Twin Hawk, though a lot of people don't seem to share the sentiment, but I think Fire Shark demolishes it in terms of quality. I also prefer it to Thunder Force II but then again I don't like Thunder Force II that much.

Not really, there's 10 stages that loop until 99. A lot of old Toaplan shmups are like that.

I think enemy bullets become faster at the very least. I'm not entirely sure when the difficulty tops out.

Fire Shark is the best ever Sega Genesis Arcade Shooters game. It is so simple, fun, the music is good, and can be playable again, again, and again.

    Here is some tips:
    1. Never pick the green weapon. The red fire is the best one.
    2. Once you get the all of 6 lines of the red fire, usually on stage 2, you can finished the games without any life loss until stage 10 [level by default].

When you finished the stage 10, after the congratulations, there will be given a password and total points information. Is anyone know what is the function of the password for ? and how to use it ? Thanks.

An excellent game, sibling to Sky Shark, Daisenpuu, and Dragon Spirit, it looks superb and is the graphically best shooter on the system--though I'm willing to defer to the Panorama/Burning Force look. There's something about royal blue that just suits the Genesis, and the fire shows bright and clear. However, I think the weapons a bit too much of a good thing, as in Dragon Spirit, or for that matter Truxton, so it remains second behind Sky Shark to me.

Graphically best shooter in the system?

You must have not seen Lightening force, Gley lancer, and garaies.

Lightening Force was exactly what I had in mind when I nominated Fire Shark the graphically best shooter on the system. I'm not concerned with specs, I mean overall visuals, and Fire Shark bears a pleasant simplicity of style. LF resembles an SNES game, all polish and shine; I enjoy a few of those, on the SNES, but the Genesis is made of solider stuff. Gaiares is similarly yawn-inspiring. Gleylancer I won't knock, but no. Musha would've been a better contestant, it's structures are interesting. And you can throw in Alien Soldier as another game I don't like either. Battle Mania 2 might be up there if the bosses don't look so silly as they did in the first--so silly I've avoided the sequel even after the hubbub created by the late review.

So many people had been recommending this game to me and I finally managed to grab a CIB one from the US about 6 months ago and I wasn't disappointed. I think its an excellent shooter that reminded me a great deal of Raiden, which is certainly no bad thing.
To be this good takes AGES, to be this good takes SEGA!
