Streets of Rage 2 was made by Sega, released in the winter of 1992, and was the system's first 16-megabit game. It was only the second 16-megabit console game ever (that July's Street Fighter 2 was the first).

Only 3 posts for one of the Top 5 beat-em-ups of all time?
Everyone knows that when it came to home consoles, Final Fight didn't have shit on Streets of Rage 2.
Until FFCD came out and equaled SORII!
FFCD is nice and all but it doesn't even come close.
Umhhh, yes it does!
SORII is superior so far as affect, but is that effect, purely?
SOR3 has the better gameplay wrinkles: it's faster, and more diverse. The censorship and tonal changes from that have always harmed the game perceptually, but I think it is overall better paced than the already-outstanding SORII.
The move selection, full use of the six button pad from that, and the ability to run -- always a plus in beat 'em ups from this period -- makes for a more dynamic experience from the input side. The mood created is another, more questionable, matter relative to SORII.
Best 'Streets of Rage' entry? 'Bare Knuckle III'.
BKIII>SOR3>SORII>FF=SOR
Capcom became much better with later entries in this genre, such as AVP. The gameplay of the original FF is mind-numbing in its simplicity, though I think it makes up for some of that through clever visuals and pace.
I have some sympathy towards the SNES' 'Final Fight 3', however, though I think it's lacking greatly in style.
The best challenger, if one wants to look at it that way, to the SOR series from the SNES side was probably 'Super Double Dragon'.
SOR2 is one of my all time favorite games!!!
Life would suck without Streets of Rage 2.
MY SEGAS[Model 1 Sega CD x 5] [Model 1 HD Genesis w/Component Video] [Model 2 Genesis] [32X CIB] [Master System Model 3010] [Nomad w/LCD mod] [Dreamcast] [Saturn] [Game Gear]
Very few games can truly claim to be a "classic", and SOR II definitely is one of those few. Also, I really enjoyed SOR III. It was different, yes, but I certainly still liked it.
SoR II is the best in the series. The gameplay in SoR 3 / Bare Knuckle 3 is a bit more smooth, but as you get further in the game the enemies get progressively cheaper and it becomes a game of jump, kick and retreat and dodging projectiles. Plus they nerfed a lot of the moves from SoR2, making things all the more annoying. Bare Knuckle 3 is still a great Beat-em-up though, I just think that the weaker music and general goofiness along with the aforementioned gripes bring it down a bit.
