Question GameBoy Color speaker issue/screen lighting question

Recently, my GameBoy Color has been acting up, specifically with the speaker. I usually run the thing using a power supply(I HATE wasting batteries), but recently, after I switched a cartridge(I did the proper procedure for the cartridge switch), the speaker has been emitting a VERY LOUD buzzing sound that is so loud, it overpowers all of the game's audio and garbles it. Previously, there was a buzzing sound, but it was really muffled(unless I used headphones... oh God, I don't want to hear the GameBoy Color's audio output now through the headphone port), so it wasn't bothersome. But now, it's gotten EXTREMELY LOUD, and shutting the system off for a while before turning it back on doesn't fix the problem. I have to run the system on batteries not to get the buzzing. The buzzing actually sounds like those old toaster-ovens when you give 'em power, but MUCH louder. I don't know if something broke, but I don't want to use the thing with batteries all the time.

Another thing: has anyone managed to fit a GameBoy Advance SP backlight in their GameBoy Color? If so, how did you manage? There's a broken backlit GameBoy Advance SP I can pick up if I can get a step-by-step procedure on how to backlight my GameBoy Color. Otherwise, is there a way to frontlight the thing using 2 white LEDs?

EDIT: OH MY GOD!!!! I nearly fell off my chair when I turned the GameBoy Color on with a power supply and headphones plugged in. IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE'S RUNNING AN ELECTRIC CURRENT THROUGH MY EARS! WTF? What's the matter with this thing???

Why bother trying to fit one from SP when you could use one from the Japan only Game Boy Lite? It was a backlit Game Boy (without color) shaped just like Game Boy Color and Game Boy Pocket.

And it sounds like your speaker is busted. Try using headphones and see how the sound comes out. If it still happens, then something's probably busted with the audio output itself. I wouldn't even bother trying to fix it though when you can just get a Game Boy Color for less than $10.

The sound is EVEN WORSE through headphones.

And I don't like the GameBoy Light's watch-like backlight: I HATE that blue tint it gives off. The reason why I'm asking about the SP is because I can get one with a broken screen to take its backlight.

UPDATE: Wouldn't you know it? It's the POWER SUPPLY that's faulty! I got another GameBoy Color, and guess what? IT DOES THE SAME THING! Strangely, though, my GameBoy Pocket doesn't do it as loudly(it's like the GameBoy Color before the power supply started acting up, though the noise gets louder when the screen gets no video signal). What's up with that?

Either way, look like I need a new 3V power supply for my GameBoy Colors and GameBoy Pocket.

your 3V power supply is too weak, it has to give out more current.... MD will start doing a very loud humm aswell if you have too weak AC brick.

It's rated at 300mA. What does the GameBoy Color need to run right?
