Blinky Genesis Accessory & Peripheral Guide

Like any other successful console, the Genesis had its fair share of peripherals. Here at Sega-16, we've tried to track down as many as possible. We'll be adding more to this list as controllers, extensions, adapters, and other do-hickeys are found and documented. If you have any pics of items not featured here, feel free mention them here and we'll make sure they're included!

Wow, I actually just got one of those SEGA soft packs from the video game store I work at for 2 shitty SNES games (one was like Ultraman and some other one I forget), but I was under the impression that it was for Game Gear games.

Didn't know it was rare, that's pretty cool.

And I still want those Genesis speakers...

I have some controllers you don't have on the site. Where can I offer the pics and info?
Also, the DIN connector for s-video/Composite does work on GEN1 models and NeoGeo. I know, I had used it before. It is also functional with certain Atari 800 items too.

Man, I read this a while ago. I still can't believe there's some stuff in there that I'm drooling over. Why is it so hard to find the official Sega 6 button pad? I'm stuck with the Majesco ones. I'd also want a Sega power strip, just to say I have one. There's also tons of stuff in there that I'd like to have but I'd be here all day listing them. Still happy I have an official Sega 6-button arcade stick!

Any pictures or information you can offer to add to the guide is very welcome. Thanks!

If you'd like a photo of the 2nd player pink Justifier gun just let me know. I have one along with a mint box.

Also, I have to strongly disagree with the comments associated with the Turbo 360 pad. I bought one when they first came out and it became my pad of choice for over 10 years. I still use it and have a NIB copy set aside for use in the future when the first one finally gives out.

I also have a NIB copy of the SG ProPad and SG ProPad 6.

Whoa that Turbo 360 pad would go haywire if you gotten too much oils on it from your skin. Never enjoyed that controller.

    An interesting write-up.

I have the mouse, but am disappointed by the number of games that don't support it that could benefit greatly from its use, Jurassic Park for Sega CD as an example.

I have the Capcom controller too and, while it does look odd, it works great. It's in the spitting image of the 3DO controller, but that one gets the most hype. I didn't even know they had a Genesis version until I ordered one over a week ago.

Defiantly add the SG propad 6 to the list. Some pads are defective, but when You get one in proper working order they can't be beat!

Maybe try to find info on the STD SG program pad as well. It had a memory card and let You program combinations of button presses in sequence. It was marketed mainly towards fighting games. I bought a used one back in the day, but it had problems.

I have 2 official sega 6 button controllers. Awesome for fighting games. Ironically, I don't have a 3 button controller. Need to pick one up just to have one.

I actually have an sg programpad I use as my primary genesis controller if I'm not playing a game. I can get some decent pics of it if you want. There's a short video on both the sn and sg programpads over on my YouTube channel (check my sig for link)

I love the sg programpad, but the button layout is kinda cruddy for fighting games. That negative is offset a little by the three programmable buttons that handle macros for special moves, but I feel like a cheat if I use them.

I still want a menacer and sega arcade stick. I have yet to pick em up mostly cause I collect for a crapload of systems (nes, snes, n64, turbografx-16, dreamcast, ps1, 3do, game boy, game boy advance, genesis, sega cd, 32x). Heck, I may add 2600, master system, Saturn, game gear, and virtual boy later on lol.

Yeah, with what little time I got to spend on the Programpad, the button layout was a bit odd. As for "feeling like a cheat", well, as long as you're not using it against a live opponent, I wouldn't worry. Keep in mind the AI can fire off it's combo moves at will, without having to key in a precise button sequence, so you're really keeping things fair.
(Although, I suck ass must horribly at fighting games, so I'll take any advantage I can get)

Competition Pro 6 buttons pads, they were actually pretty good.

Datel Action Replay 2 is also missing.
