Default Genesis games with best music

I personally love the soundtrack for Altered Beast, It is quite varied and sets an imposing mood. Gauntlet 4 is quite good, composed by the brilliant Hitoshi Sakimoto (Radiant Silvergon, Final Fantasy Tactics). I also love the Thunder Force 2 soundtrack. What are some of your favorites?

    1. M.U.S.H.A. is my favorite Genesis soundtrack personally. It's just pure adrenaline all the way through.

    2. The Sonic games all have some of the most memorable tracks in video game history.

    3. Rocket Knight Adventures has incredible music. I remember having a hard time believing that my Genesis was actually producing it.

What? Gauntlet 4's music was composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto? There is too much melody to be him. Usually his music is somewhat meandering without any melodic structure. Can anyone confirm if that is true?

it's him, trust me, I'm a Sakimoto fanatic. And if you think his music is meandering without any melodic structure, you probably haven't heard enough of his work? His melodies in much of stuff is quite complex. His work was somewhat simple and more melodic in the 16 bit days, he got more complex in the 32 bit era.

Gleylancer/Graylancer has some pretty nice music. But then again, I like some of the music from the Chaos Engine as well. :P

Sakimoto did the soundtrack to Devilish also.

here is a link below with some songs from Final Fantasy XII which Sakimoto is doing. "Field Theme" , "Trailer Theme(Jump Fiesta)" and "Peace and War" in particular are awesome, and show that Sakimoto is back to doing epic work in the vein of Radiant Silvergun and Vagrant Story, a great sign after some of his recent stuff (although Stella Deus is god like).

Toejam & Earl (both), Contra Hard Corps, Comix Zone, The Ooze, Phantasy Star IV, Skitchin'. Then you got your Sonics, your Vectormen, your Streets of Rages, your Shinobies.

The Vectorman music is all right... I usually never notice it when playing though.

just listened to most of the Vectorman 1 soundtrack, it's pretty good sounding techno/rave musci, considering it's being pumped out of a genesis!

I'd say this is about the best sounding Genesis song(Japonesqe from Shinobi III), or one of the top ones. all the instruments sound clear and high quality, and there is a complete set of drums.

I also like the altered beast music alot. I'd recommend checking out alisia dragoon, golden axe, phantasy star 3-4, shining force 1-2, y's 3 and arcus odyssey's soundtracks, since they all have that medieval theme to them.
