    Default Jap MD1 HDG?

Did the early model #1 jap consoles come out with High Definition Graphics printed on them or was it just the Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil & North American ones? What is the equivalent in the Jap model 1`s?

Japan units all had "AV intelligent terminal, high grade multipurpose use" written on them, MD2's omitted the "AV intelligent terminal".

So how do you tell which are the better jap MD1`s without opening them up?

theres no way to tell, the only diffrence in jap model 1 Megadrives is the TMSS logo at startup, my jap Megadrive is a Model 1 TMSS

All model 1 japanese Megadrives look the same, no "high definition graphics" logo

EDIT:Some TMSS models have the cartridge lock removed.

Actually, there is a way to tell: the older variant has a "SEGA (R)" while the other has "SEGA". - Here's a model with the "SEGA (R)" logo:

Something quite odd is that the Japanese machines look absolutely fantastic in real life bug somehow don't look good on photos.

Well, life wouldn't be complete without them. You know, build a house, plant a tree, have sixty MD variants.

If it has a modem port (DB9 connector on the back) then it is a good unit. If not, then it is not one of the better ones.

On that note, does anyone own the modem or the network cartridge?

Must have misread one of your posts over at SpritesMind... I thought you had them just lying around.

Any suggestion of what I should look for when getting a Saturn for homebrew? Since working on the 32X, people keep bugging me about Saturn since they are rather closely related. I figure I should start looking into what I need now so that I'm prepared later when I actually want to work on Saturn homebrew. Any suggestions from anyone are appreciated.
