Model 1 HD genesis bad RF?

I just got a model 1 hdg Genesis from ebay and the RF displays rolling black bars and a horrible buzzing sound. The games don't usually start up, and sometimes there are graphical errors that seems to be from something other than RF. I used three siferent RF switches and they all did the same thing.
on the plus side, I don't have to sit through the TMSS message. Should I get some av cables for this, or should I get a new model 1?

Hey bud, I have seen quite a few MD1's and Master Systems (esp. Master System 2's)that don't like to RF. The little box of sparks that does the RF'ing is worn out I guess. But they are quite happy to work with AV.

Basic AV leads aren't that expensive to buy and heaps cheaper to make.

A lot of folk will tell you RF is banned! lol!

Ah another thing to do is pop the board out of the case and give it a good de-dusting. Also give the cart. connector a good clean.

Yeah, I'm gonna pick up some AV cables for it. The cool thing is the seller is going to send me another system free of charge, I hope it's another HD model, as that is why I bought the Genesis. I already have a model 2, but I wanted an HD model 1 for the superior sound and so I can hook it up to my stereo. I'll let you know how it turns out.

When I got my HDG Genesis with TMSS and used the RF adapter, it gave the same affect. Ditch that RF as fast as you can.

You were dead right yet again, man. I hooked up an official sega brand power adaptor that I was using on my NES and now it works fine. Now all I have to do is hook it up to my stereo and I'm set. Oh yeah, and having no TMSS is so sweet, I love it. THANK YOU, EvilDragon.

One word of advice, NEVER use an NES power pack on a Sega. NES uses AC current, Sega uses DC current. It's ok to use DC supplies on the NES cause it'll bypass the rectifying circuit. But the Sega has no rectifying circuit so using an NES supply can fry it.

I know you didn't specify if you were using the NES supply on the Sega (you did the other way around), but just giving word of advice.

Yeah, I know about that. Good looking out and great advice my friend. I don't know if you remember, but you helped me with a similar problem with my model 2 when I first joined. I wasn't even able to make posts yet. You told me then not to use an NES adaptor on Genesis. Thanks man, you've saved me a lot of anguish today.

I remembered, but I didn't know that the model ones also had the same problem. This model 1 was FAR worse than my model 2, but now, thanks to you, it is all gravy. Thanks again, I owe you.
