Pirate Smiley Pirates of Dark Water

Like pirate? Who doesn't? Back before Orlando Bloom an Johnny Depp made them super popular again, there was a moderately popular cartoon show based on a trio of pirates who had adventures in another land (planet?). From 1991 to 1993, The Pirates of Darkwater sought to reboot the genre, and while it wasn't entirely successful, it did spawn a pretty decent action game with RPG elements. Check out the full review, eye patch and peg leg not included.

Nice, now I finally get a look at what this game is truly like. I've been thinking about getting this game for my brother, he was a big fan of Pirates of Dark Water when it was on.

The only thing I don't like about the game is Ren's Sprite. Other than that its a pretty good side scrolling adventure game.

i would not say it is an easy game. There is no way. There are so many levels. I remember playing this game for almost a month and I am not an average gamer. I finished it up. It was hard. Trust me if you have finished this game you will know. And certainly not linear at all. One of my favorite games not many people finished this game.

Good review of this underdeveloped, promising game. I actually favour playing with the woman, her speed enlivens it. Would've helped had it looked better too, it needs more detail and contrast. Nonetheless superior to a lot of the ballyhooed games round here.

This has been on my "to-play" list for a while, though it may be a while yet since I've recently finished a bunch of long-ish platformers, have started a new one (Asterix and the Great Rescue), and am starting to get temporarily burned out on the genre. Also my copy is cart + box, and I prefer at least having the option of reading the manual (though I typically wait until after I've played the game a bit).

I remember being intrigued by the cartoon when it was on, though for some reason I never much watched it -- I was more of a Conan the Adventurer kid.
