    Default Applying for a job

After not doing hardly anything yesterday, I've decided that I should get another job, I had one last summer but had to stop when school began because they didn't offer part time work during the school. Now that I've graduated I need to find a new job so that I can start to pay for school.

It would be nice if you guys could give me some advice on some entry level jobs that I could apply for, here are some I have considered:

The huge movie theater where I live- My friend worked here and hated it, he says that the customers that come here are the biggest jackasses of all time, but my other friend said that he likes it quite a bit and even got to call security on someone, that sounds pretty awesome.

EBgames- I know what you're thinking, but EB in Canada is quite a bit different than it is in the states, don't beleive me? When I went to buy a copy of Kingdom Hearts for my sister's birthday guess what? It came shrink wrapped!

Best Buy- Has anyone worked here? Is it any good?

Local Game Store- I've wanted to work here for a while, but I don't really now how to get a job here because I can't really tell if they are hiring or not.

The Grocery store- Has anyone here worked at a grocery store? How is it?

I knew a guy who worked at Best Buy. He said he was bored most of the time. He even tried to make me buy a used oven/stove. If you like talking about computers to total strangers and trying to sell washing machines and used ovens, then that's the job for you!

My brother worked in a grocery store and it was a case of horrible early mornings.

Retail work is generally gash. The general public are morons and having to deal with them on a daily basis can result in the urge to blow up orphanages - or maybe that's just me.

At least you get free movies by working at the theater. Working at EB won't get you free games. Working at Best Buy won't get you free anything. Most people who work at the theater seem to enjoy it unless you hate working, period.

I currently work in a grocery store and I have previously worked at Best Buy.

I like the grocery store a bit more customer-wise as I'm not required to talk to customers unless they approach me first. But I constantly have to fill product.

Best Buy had some down time, but when I worked there they were starting up making the music department a "sales department", so I pretty much had to constantly walk around asking people if they "need help finding anything". About the only plus for Best Buy was the discount, but I've heard it isn't as great as it once was.

Oh and one more thing, retail work will hollow you out and make you detest humans.

But you'll know not to be that ass-wipe too lazy to walk 10 feet to put away that item he doesn't want.

What company do you work for? I did night crew for 3-4 years. I loved it. No fucking customers to deal with.

Though there was a good share of burnout drunks, druggies and losers as co-workers.

The best part was the 8-15 hours of over-time a week. Plus the extra money for working over-night.

But retails does indeed suck ass. I thought working in a gunstore would be a dream come true. A lot of it is fun...but some of the customers are total douches/total morons.

That's true of most 'ideal' jobs though, it is a lesson everyone learns a different way.

It's a regional chain. I work 2nd shift stocking produce, so I do have to deal with customers.

I never could work overnight. I like staying up late, but I still like to hit the hay before sunrise.

    You can just shoot them.

Best job I ever heard of was spending the fall and winter as a caretaker of a wealthy man's private island mansion, and the spring and summer as his professional yacht captain. I wasn't qualified, but if you're a retired cruise ship or navy officer, preferably with combat experience...

I take it that it's a small business and you're a regular there? If you are friendly with the people who work there then it wouldn't hurt to ask if they need any help around there, something like that.

If you want to do the whole retail thing you can but be warned if you get a bad manager you will want to quit within the first week. When I worked at KB toys it probably was the best job I ever had because the manager was a really good person.

Do you have a Drivers License? I used to be a Valet and parking cars all day is not too bad of a job and the tips are great. You can fund yourself working only 3 days a week.

Go to college Monday thru thursday and work Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

I'd say go with the theater job. Grocery stores usually have jerks for bosses and lots of them, EB Games may be good, but only for a discount as a bonus, Toys R Us maybe, depends on the manager. Best Buy, don't go in there at all for a job, they're policies I have heard of lately are draconian.
