How exactly does the name change operation work on this forum?

I had a name that was a song title and I wanted to get away from that, so I asked to have it changed to this.

All you need to do to get your name changed is ask. As long as it's nothing attention-whorish or offensive, there's no problem. I'd rather people stick with the same name though, as it makes it hard to identify who's who when they change.
