The cynical skeptic in me predicts:
4 new hedgehogs will be introduced
47 Sonic buddies will appear
Knuckles will again have a shitty rap song for a theme.
"Eggman" will still be used.
Well, Eggman is his name. It always was. Sega of America just decided to rename him to "Dr. Robotnik" because you can squeeze some Anti-Russian ressentiments into everything if you got nothing better to do.

The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.
Then we set about developing killer games.

Anti-Russian anything is always good. Look at Strider.

It's SEGA's response to this.
the rivalries are returning for the next decade of Nintendo vs SEGA wars.

"Fires of purgatory, coalesce and incinerate my enemies."
I know it will take old school gamers like us who will actually decide if this new game lives up to the hype.
^I'm w/ gamegenie. It's so obvious.
...But I'll take the obvious over the non-existent any day. Otherwise, we wouldn't have Vectorman in the first place.![]()
I have not gotten my hopes up for a "new" Sonic game since the massive disappointment that was Sonic Heroes, and I'm sure as hell not gonna start again now. I'll be excited for this game once it has come out and proven to me that it doesn't suck. Won't get fooled again, etc.
Sonic the Pinata is back to be whacked for yet another time.
I'm surprised though that Sega is taking its fans seriously. People have been requesting this for a while. Hopefully they are finally doing some research on what their customers really want to play.
It even brings back the Sega Scream in the teaser trailer.
Come on..., you know you want to see what it's like...
