    Puyo King's Bounty

Electronic Arts and New World Computing released ports of some complex and often brutally difficult PC games for the Genesis, and among their offerings was King's Bounty. Though visually simple, give it some time and you'll find that what it lacks in presentation it more than makes up for in depth and exploration. Some consider it to be among the best examples of the genre on the Genesis, despite the difficulty and massive password (something thankfully remedied by save states). Is it deserving of such praise? Read our full review of the game and decide for yourself.

I'd hate to say it but that review was really confusing to read and I can't give a Genesis game a perfect 10 when it's an RPG with a password system and not a save.

I didn't find it confusing to read at all. I wouldn't have docked it points just for having a password but for having one so darn long (56 characters, IIRC).

I definitely dock games points that don't have saves as it makes the game a chore to play. Examples of this are Guardian Legend and Swords and Serpents on NES, I don't like the fact that you may not be able to continue the game if the password fails.

I wouldn't score it with a 10 for sure, but the game is still good enough to deserve a 8 at least. I love the Heroes of Might and Magic series and this is a pretty decent 1990 precursor (can be called "Heroes of Might and Magic Zero"), well converted to the Mega Drive.

The only lackluster part of this port is, as most people said, the password system.

Super Monaco GP had 64 character passwords. Therefore, King's Bounty loses

I don't mind the password function too much (though 56 character-passwords are annoying), but the game's rather lackluster presentation in the graphics and sound-departments definitly don't make this a game worthy of a 10-rating! At the author: You admit the game has flaws, so why do you give it a perfect score? That would indicate it was a flawless game! Also, this review doesn't really do a good job to point out this game's strong points; overall, this reads more like "it was the inspiration for Heroes of Might and Magic, which is a better game"; which doesn't serve at all to justify this games rating.

Also, keep in mind that this game is infamous for having one of the most blatant balancing errors in gaming history: The rampant ghosts! (Ghosts could increase their own numbers by defeating enemies; however, once their number got bigger than your own leadership level, they got out of control, mowing down everything in their path, including your own men, while still increasing their numbers..)

Not one of the better reviews.

The funny thing about an oxymoron is, even if you remove the ox, there'll always be a moron. The Question Remains: Y?

This game deserves an 11, not a 10.

However gave it a 10 should be shot.

Flowery speech a good review doth not make.

But I have no problem with a score of 10. When I see a "10", I don't think Flawless Game, since there is no such thing. I just think A Great Game You'd Best Check Out.
    But that's just me.
    that is all.

This. A 10 doesn't mean perfect, just that it does everything it set out to do. I assume King's Bounty set out to have a massive password.
