i hate to be a jerk, but the only thing that bothers me more than being a jerk is incorrect history.

I have a great deal of respect for this game and the people who developed it, simply because had it not been for the 32X, this game would have never gotten a release on home consoles.
okay, so the game had like 8 million PC ports, but as much as C64s and the like were practically like consoles in their heydey, i'll let that slide. BUT, one would be cruel to forget that it was ported to the most beloved of all classic consoles:

edit: as i'm not sure if the youtube link thing actually works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bki5mJ1c7U

    shockingly competent, considering.

it was also included as an arcade port in Gamecube's Rogue Squadron 3, but that's also whatever.

Your entire post is wrong. My history isn't correct, your knowledge is. This is NOT A PORT OF STAR WARS ARCADE BY FUCKING ATARI. THIS GAME WAS MADE BY SEGA. SEE HERE:

Swing and a miss. OH MY GOD, THE QUARTERBACK IS TOAST!

Easy to make that mistake, since the Atari one you were likely refering to and the one that came out (shortly) after the one here on that got the port onto the 32x that had the whole trilogy in it were more enjoyable than this one. I would have liked a port of THAT game, maybe on PS2?

Slam City (starring Scottie Pippen) - CD32X
    ...and more!

    Strike 3, you're out!

The Atari Star Wars Arcade game was the 1970s Vector-graphics game.

The Star Wars Trilogy game you are referring to was made shortly after Star Wars Arcade and is also made by Sega.

That's what I was saying, chief. There was a port of that to the Atari 2600, believe it or not.

    A homebrew port?

not at all. i posted a video of it (too bad youtube links appear to be a broken feature), and yes, it's legit.

and like i said, surprisingly competent.

my mistake frustrates me greatly, because it's a mistake that was also made by numerous magazines at the time, from Gamepro to 3-2-1 Contact. i'm serious. i was literally fed as a young 'un on numerous occasions that it was a 3D update of the original arcade game, so i'm now left pants down and embarrassed over a Sega release that had a US distribution of several.

to be fair, the game owed a heck of a lot to the Atari title.

and oddly enough, the article implied that SWT also had a distribution of a handful, but yet I anecdotal-y saw it at darn near every arcade i went to in Seattle (and the one in Leavenworth, if that means anything to anyone) at the time. thus, i always had the impression it was crazy popular.

The game was ass. There were four released SW games for Atari 2600: Arcade Game, Jedi Power Battles, Empire Strikes Back and Death Star Attack (I think that is all of them).

The only one that isn't total ass is Empire, and that game is actually quite fun.

There was a Ewok game planned but never released (the ROM is available online).

To clear up any further confusion, here's the run-down:

    Star Wars (Atari)

    Star Wars Arcade (SEGA)

    Star Wars Trilogy (SEGA)

Star Wars by Atari was ported to a bunch of systems.

Star Wars Arcade was only ported to the 32x.

Star Wars Trilogy hasn't been ported yet.
