    Default Fireshark Syndrome

Scenario: You are in stage 8 of Fireshark. You haven't died, and you have max powerups with the red whip weapon. You have 11 lives you know about, but only started counting recently. Suddenly, from nowhere a crazy fucking shot from directly in front of you hits you and you die.

Now you have the three shooter, it is practically the end of the game and there is no way you are going to make it.

When this happened to me today, I was like 'fuck it' and turned the game off and left. If I was younger I am sure I would have used every single one of those lives 'trying to beat Fireshark'.

Has anyone else lost the 'spirit' of things or is it just me? I absolutely can't play anything with a plot anymore, it's just too much work. I tried to play Out Of This World and didn't even make it through the intro. There's all this crazy stuff going on around me, I can't concentrate.

    Anyone?

Maybe it's because we grow up and see that life's not about games. Except basement dwellers.

I've not only been there, I AM there. As I grow up I can't seem to get into the 'whole movie experience thing' that gaming seems to have become. The last system I really enjoyed was a ps1. And even that doesn't hold a candle to the greatness that was Genesis/Megadrive.

It just doesn't hold my interest anymore. I only play things that you can jump right into. Heck my 3 favorite games of all time are MK, SFII and Doom. Talk about getting a quick fix

In shooters that set me back when I die, I usually shut off the game or restart it the very first time I get hit.

I'm just lucky to get to level 8 of Fire Shark let alone win the game. In fact, the last playthrough was the first time I made it to level 8. I had been stuck on level 7 the last 5 or 6 playthroughs.
As far as my gaming interests, I'm both a retro and modern gamer. I do like storyline driven games but I also like the quick fix gaming the Genesis/Megadrive gives me.

I suffer from that feeling too, just can't seem to bring myself to go back whenever i lose.

Like a few weeks ago i was playing Sonic 1, and i reached the water stage,
so i wade through it and find Robotnik, and i died like 3 times on the way up,
and i just turned off the console and walked away.

I just don't give a crap about finishing most classic games, unless its a fighter where its not so much about timed jumps and such.

... as a matter of fact i don't play that many games anymore these days,
I bought GTA4 and pretty much did 4 missions or something before it started to feel like work, with the dating and the stuff.

Guess thats why i like sandbox games so much, no pressure
