Many backups don't come with the music tracks. When you see a SEGA backup with the music tracks, the tracks are usually MP3 encoded to save space. Make sure your burning app will write the tracks from the MP3s as well. Sometimes, you might be required to convert the MP3s into WAVEs before burning.

Also, the SEGA CD is a very old 1X CD drive. Make sure to use a write speed that doesn't change speeds abruptly. For example, if you write a CD at maximum speed, most CD burners today will burn part of the disc at a lower speed, then jump to a faster speed part of the way through, then yet another faster speed a little further on, and so forth. That's why most guides say to just burn the CD at the lowest speed possible. That causes the burner to not jump the speed up every so often.

Make sure you have the burning program set to convert wav to red book CD audio. (some burning programs will even convert mp3 files)
