So, last month was one of the more successful collecting months I've had - this one is shaping up to be one of the shittiest. In the last week I've missed out on Radiant Silvergun for £30 (evilbay seller listing error, they backed out) £10 copies of Soukyugurentai and Salamander Deluxe CIB (already sold when I 'found' them) CIB with spine PAL Sonic CD (especially frustrating as it was second chance offer that the seller then decided not to sell me, as the buyer - who I'm certain is that Spence git, to add insult - decided to finally pay) a French seller changed their mind about selling me a Game Gear game (because I'm not French), and now, thanks to my shitty broadband screwing up AGAIN, I've missed out on CIB PAL Knuckles Chaotix for £40 - which tbh, is the most gutting of all. Especially when the buyer has 20,000 fb (obviously some reseller).

    Fuck. (x 6766 :P)

Yeah, both Sonic CD and Chaotix PAL have skyrocketed in the last year or so.

How much were you trying to get for Chaotix if you dont mind me asking?

It was on for £40. I wanted it to replace my beat-up cart only copy, but instead it'll be off to some git's stockroom I expect. (/bitterness :P)

Today was a rather ho-hum game hunting day for me, as well. I hit about every thrift shop and Goodwill in the area, and ended up with nothing worth posting in the Haul thread. The best thing I got was a loose Stripe vs Gizmo cart for the GBA for $7. I also got four $2 GameBoy games (three sports games and Ring Rage, just to beef up my collection). At Eco Thrift, I found a bag of 3 Super Nintendo controllers (two regular and one ASCII pad) for $7, as well as a loose Cybernator cart, also for $7. When I took them to the front, I was given a 25% discount on everything.

Half the buttons are Parma Violets!

Good price, though. I need to find more time to actually visit some charity shops (not that I've had the best of luck with them, but you never know.)

People around here are always bragging about the scores they've found at Goodwill and other thrift shops. I've never been very lucky. Other than today, the only other item I've found (worth buying, I mean) was a $10 Game Gear with a missing battery cover. And even that wasn't even that great a deal.

I've hit the quasi-Jackpot a couple of times at Goodwills or Play N Trades. It doesn't come often, though. It's much less than hit-or-miss, imo. It's more about perseverance. You gotta hit these spots constantly and consistently (same hour, same days). I don't think I'd have a NES, N64, Dreamcast, Saturn or even half my entire Genesis library if I hadn't been that consistent. I haven't been at it for over a year now, though. I miss the hunt.

A Saturn was my primary target today.

I purposefully avoid some forums (DP, for one) for this reason - some people seem to be so lucky, it fills me with seething jealousy.

I went through a phase of going to charity shops every week, got lazy though. Never got anything amazing - the best things I found were a pile of Jp Saturn games, £1 each (around 10, nothing too rare but was nice, my Saturn collection is not v large) and Golden Sun 2 CIB for £2 (which I've not played :/) I found a yellow Gameboy (pocket I think) in one place, but that's it for consoles. Most UK charity shops don't stock consoles though, I'm told a lot of places will just throw them away if they're donated. (As there's "nobody who can test them", and they can't give them away either for "health and safety reasons".) Don't give your retro consoles to charity, people! :P

Wasn't a big fan of those; used to gob them in one bite, couldn't be bothered to suck the things.

Hated them; always used to get stuck in between my gums and were an absolute nightmare to get them out.
