Watched Fantastic Mr Fox tonight. The animation was pretty terrible. In fact, it was a pretty terrible movie to look at in general. And yet, the dialog was surprisingly snappy. I couldn't stop watching it, actually.

So, I saw that new movie Prometheus. It's pretty, but It's not really anything special. The story has been better told in numerous books, games, and anime throughout the years. One of the things that bothers me the most about this movie and many other modern films is that the characters just aren't interesting. It's like they have a catalog of archetypes they draw from when they write these movies. You have the typical number of disposable douche-bags, bitchy women, funny guys, heroic everymans and even a self sacrificing black dude for good measure. It's fucking boring.
Oh, and the ending also makes me think of LEXX too. (You'll see what I mean)

I haven't seen LEXX, but I thought the ending was a little self-serving and didn't really answer too many questions.

I can understand where some people come from when they criticize certain SciFi films. But I think the Island must have gotten the "Hate curse" via Michael Bay ala Nick Cage in several good films. I'm sorry folks, but the island was outstanding (even if it did steal from Phillip K. Dick and other sources).
Rotten Tomatoes is proving rotten, imo.
From Rotten Tomatoes:
The characters in The Island couldn't have been more developed. The dialogue was pristine and the plot was extremely fluid and unpredictable (for a first time viewer who did not allow him/herself to be spoiled).A clone of THX 1183, Coma, and Logan's Run, The Island is another loud and bombastic Michael Bay movie where explosions and chases matter more than characters, dialogue, or plot.
