Watch this. Hilarious! Be careful of the narrator's accent... it threw me for a loop on some phrases that I simply could not decipher.

There are some good songs in there anyway. Michael was pretty good in the early '80s, and when he was in the Jackson 5.
My mom loved him when he was in the Jackson 5 and if she knew this, she'd be suprised. Haha.
The smell of scorched oil hangs in the air as a premonition of danger, while the engine gloriously shouts its war cry...
Throughout history, suspicion has always bred conflict. The real conflict, though, resides in people's hearts. This conflict has just begun.

That is utterly creepy...but very weird..
You better believe it, buster!
Seems to be some genuine parallels between MJ's tunes and Sonic 3.. if only we could get him for a Sega-16 interview!
Did they change all the music for the PC version? And what about Sonic Mega Collection (or whatever its name is), is the music changed there too? Could give some answers...
PC Vers. is entirely changed. As for Sonic Mega Collection, it remains the same as the Genesis vers.
Which reminds me, the PC Vers. has a few rough spots when it comes to the MIDI's. Since I felt they don't really fit the stages as well as the original. Yet, there's about 3 tracks on there that are pretty decent.

I heard about this a long time ago, but it's good to see it with audio clips. Too bad the narrator puts me to sleep...
Does Sonic Jam contain the orig music?
Original as in Genesis vs. PC, yes.

I think I posted something like this a couple months ago.
I recall you posting some sort of article. This video is a pretty cool video, though.. makes the similarities between Sonic 3's score and MJ's tunage that much more apparant.
The music's similar, but as the narrator says, all we're hearing is a set of common chords. It could be coincidence - but then, MJ was veeeeerry pally-pally with SEGA at the time. Sonic 2sday, mascot, etc. etc.

...not to mention the fact that he was brought aboard to compose the Sonic 3 soundtrack.
I remember hearing about this several times as well.
It's not that surprising, it's not like this would be the only time Michael Jackson has worked with Sega and I'm not just talking about Moodwalker either since he did the voice work for "Space Michael" in both Space Channel 5 games.
I'm thinking it's more of an homage than anything.

Give me concrete evidence he was an active member of the Sonic 3 team. He doesn't appear in the credits, does he?Originally Posted by Drixxel
