Hmm, this makes me wonder if we could take GBA Doom 2, and use it to make 32X Doom 2.
That'd be so cool.
Looking into it now, it seems that GBA Doom 2 was a total rebuild and doesn't use WADs at all, much like SNES Doom, so I don't think it'll be any use.
Found this link with a bunch of info on the Jaguar/GBA/PSX Doom ports, as well as Doom 64. Most of the links are dead but there's still a lot of handy info there, I'm sure.
Another random thought... I wonder if the 32X could handle the PSX Doom soundtrack - as far as I know it's all done with real-time manipulation of a small collection of samples.
The playstation music was terrible worse than the 32x soundtrack its supposed to be creepy but saying the game is far to old for that would be an understatement. for me it makes the game more boring than no music.
Totally agree. Doom doesn't fit with the kind of ambient, spooky soundtrack they went with there. It worked in Quake because it was darker and less action packed, but not with the fast paced Doom. Now the 3DO version on the other hand had an awesome remix of the original soundtrack.
Done and done.

FIXES:
1)simplifies MAP20 so it can fit into the 32X's memory and thus be playable
2)fixes MAP20's yellow key secret door so it is accessable
3)all of the skull keys in the Jaguar maps are replaced with normal keys, as the skull keys have no icons in the 32X versions status bar when picked up (so you couldn't easily tell which ones you had)
Wiki wow!
32X Doom is now solidified as the best console version of Doom 1!
Well, as far as I'm concerned.
PSX Doom vs. 32X Doom is what it comes down to now.
PSX Doom pro's
Resolution, monster fighting (and the unfair inclusion of Doom 2...)
32X Door pro's
Real Doom music, Nightmare! skill
Well, I guess technically PSX version is still better, PC version still the best, but 32X Doom will forever hold that soft spot in my heart.
Thanks Nuxius, Saxman, and whoever else.
PS, can it be played on real hardware?
We need to wait until saxman's next version of his utility, which will fix the checksum. Then it will work in a real 32X.
Meanwhile, you'll have to fix the checksum yourself (if you know how) if you want it to work with a real 32X.
Also, for pros/cons, don't forget the PSX version had proper circlestrafing (a huge advantage IMO), and plus it included Ultimate Doom as well. Although I'm working on fixing the latter.

Good points.
I forgot that over the years (I borrowed PSX Doom from a friend, and bought PC Ultimate Doom and Doom 2, and then I even went back to 32X Doom in 2001 for god knows why - it hits that soft spot in my heart more than the other versions.)
I worked on jDoom's jDui for a long time, Doom just has that magic (sad the whole Doomsday project is so dead now, and sad that one guy who puts files on their website didn't like me, so he remixed my jDui and messed it up...sad indeed)
Huh? Doomsday is alive and well, they just released 1.9.0-beta6.8 about a month ago.
There is really no armor vest in level 20...extremely hard on Nightmare! thanks to this and level select.
The previous level may not have a super armor vest (going off of memory) either.
I just tried to play through it in one sitting on Nightmare...but after beating level 15, I went to level 24, and finished the game.
Can we modify level 15, to exit to level 16, instead of level 24?
Thanks.
BTW since I did it one sitting, without cheats, I got the real ending.
Proof 32X does have a good ending, vs. the bad ending of the DOS prompt.
Here's an image of a Chex Quest port in progress from True Dude over at Sonic Retro:

Also, for those interested, I'm working on a DeHackEd patcher for 32X DOOM.
