    Default Got a CDX

    It's my first CDX.

I saw a local craigslist ad for a CDX. Earlier today I went to go look at it, it seemed to be in good condition so I bought it.

It came with (2) official 6 button controllers, an original power supply, Sonic CD, Ecco and the 5-in-1 Sega Classics disc. I told him I already had Ecco and Sonic but he insisted I take them anyways, at least the 5-in-1 will be new to me. He also gave me a Power Base Converter too. The back corner of the PBC was cut out so it could fit on the CDX without pushing on the power cord, I was fine with that.

It plays all my cartridges fine, it also plays all my CDs just as well as my Model 2 Sega CD does . It even plays my Jurassic Park disc, which some say is incompatible with the CDX.

The audio out of the AV port is very good, much better than any Model 2 I've heard. It sounds slightly different compared to my Model 1, maybe less bass?

I'm very happy with it. I think I'm going to pack away my Model 1 Genesis, and Model 2 Sega CD. It takes up hardly any space! But, do people leave the 32X plugged into it? I thought I read somewhere that without that 32X adapter/insert Sega never released the weight of the 32X could damage/loosen the cartridge port.

My ONLY disappointment is that the headphone jack sounds nowhere near as good as the headphone jack on my Model 1. I really wish the audio out of the headphone jack sounded better because then I'd have no complaints.

    Congrats.

I love my CDX. I scored mine about a year ago on eBay. I practically stole it from the guy. He didn't post any pics of the system in the auction, only the included games. The end result is few people bid and allowed me to get the system (in mint condition) with 12 CIB Sega-CD games for $86

How much did you pay, if you don't mind me asking.
I saw one in a second hand store downtown once for 40 bucks.
At the time I didn't know how uncommon it was and I wish I would have bought it.

$100 cash. For $100 I wasn't expecting it to be good condition, but I was wrong. I see them go for around $150 or more on ebay all the time, so I thought it was a very good deal considering I got an original PSU, and a PBC too. The guy was selling all his old stuff to buy a PS3.

$40 seems like a great deal for a CDX.

32x should be OK, just avoid bumping it and such, and squease cartridges in rather than pusing them down. (grasp the edges of the 32x and use your thumbs to push the cart in, thus avoiding undue force being exerted on the CDX's slot)
