    Default Reset from your seat

For most games on the Sega CD you can reset them by pressing START+A+B+C at the same time. That's such a great feature.

Why wasn't that made standard for all Genesis games? I have multiple controller extension cords so my system is set up way on the other side of the room from where I sit. It's such a pain having to get up to press reset. Basically modern consoles have made me lazy, because this never bothered me when I was a kid.

I'm thinking about using this for my "reset"

It's basically just a long cord with a power on/off switch.

Will frequently cutting the power then quickly turning it back on be safe for my Genesis or CDX?

I used to know some button combo that would reset the Gamecube console. It worked nice, but I did not write it done and wish I had it again.
    It is finished!

should be fine. I've done that more or less every day for about 5 years, since the reset button on my Mega Drive 2 doesn't work.

just to make sure, wait like ½-1 second between turning it off and turning it back on again. I remember once or twice when I was too quick my Mega Drive just showed this flickering mess. might've been random, tho.

edit: by the way there are things that are exactly like the thing in your pic, except its controlled by a remote instead of a switch. but then you cant have anything blocking the path from the remote to the socket, I guess.

I know, but I'd rather not add anything more that needs batteries, unless it comes with a recharging stand/base.

well, I'm not 100% sure how the power switch is wired, but assuming it's between the power supply and the rest of the system (don't know why it would be anywhere else), you'll basically be doing the exact same thing. The only reason I could see it causing a problem is if using it would cause a power spike, but I don't think it would.

"Simultaneously press and hold the X, B, and Start buttons. This is a function in most Gamecube games."

found it on gamefaqs, I'm assuming it's right.

I'm sorry but this is just ridiculous.

What you need to do is hack an NES R.O.B. to push the button for you.

With respect, what you need to do is get off your big fat lazy ass and hit the reset button.

Believe it or not there was actually a time when you had to get up of the couch to do things.

What I'd love is a way to access the SMS 'pause' button from my seat.

Real men build an infrared sensor into their Mega Drive, go to the effort of building a remote and uses that to reset the console.

An SMS pause button for those SMS adapters would also be nice.

Yes an SMS pause would be incredible. Then I wouldn't have to lean my foot out all the damn time.
