    Yuck Ka-Ge-Ki: Fists of Steel

There are bad fighting games, and there are BAD fighting games. Two notches farther down, there is Ka-Ge-Ki: Fists of Steel. An accurate port of Romstar's arcade game, the Genesis version suffers from the same problem that plagued its source material: it sucks. With clumsy, repetitive fighting and possessing fewer moves than Frankenstein on a basketball court, this is one title to leave wherever you find it, which is most likely the freebie bin at a garage sale. Read our full review, and then play some Street Fighter II: SCE to cleanse your soul.

I wish the Genny had more good fighting games, this isn't one of them.

To be fair, the original "Ka-Ge-Ki" coin-op predated "Pit Fighter", "Street Fighter II" and "Mortal Kombat" by several years, as it was released in 1988 by Taito:

So to compare it to any post-SFII fighter is pretty one-sided. Itd be best to compare it (and put it alongside) other, 2nd-rate, obscure fighters such as "Street Smart" (originally released by SNK in 1989) and "Fighting Masters" (developed by the same people who would go on to develop a sort-of spiritual successor, "Cosmic Carnage" for 32X)

I remember seeing this game at "Cinema City 8" game room back in 89... Good memories... Double Dragon wannabe.

I'm sorry but Ka-Ge-Ki is a 10 in my book.

I use to like to watch the fat Sumo Wrestler come out when the demo played way back in the day... I never make it to him because I didn't want to spend all my quarters on one game. This game and "Bad Dudes" were one of my favorites.

All I remember about this was some pizza place that had the coin-op machine. In attract mode (I dont think I ever saw anyone actually playing it), it would periodically pipe up with Ka-ge-ki!

Im willing to bet the people who worked there are all in insane asylums now.

This game is awesome! Everyone has big heads. Only 2 moves, jab and knock out punch. The jump isn't really too helpful but it looks funny when you do it. The funny voices. Fun Factor: 10/10

I really enjoyed this game. I used to rent it from my local video store when I was a kid, and later bought it from them. I've beaten this game several times on all difficulties. Also, the music tracks are really good. Despite the fact that many people apparently don't like this game, I'd give it a 7.5/10.

Oof. This one was kind of a stinker. A VERY simple fighting game in the vein of Fighting Masters, but with extremely goofy style and sound effects. At first it was charming, and I thought about giving it a higher score, but the game is punishingly long. Each fighter takes anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes to wear down, and it gets extremely tedious just button-mashing for that long only to be met with the next fighter who is just more of the same. If it was a shorter game like the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers fighter - which was in the same style but could be beaten in about 20 minutes - I'd feel a little better about it, but as it is, the game is way too unforgiving and overlong for its own good.

    2/10
