heart Stories from the Book of Genesis Vol. 34

We've said it time and time again: Once a Genesis owner, always a Genesis owner. It stays in your blood, and no matter how hard you try to stay away, 16-bits bring you back. So why fight it? Contributor Brian Fielding realized this after almost a decade away from his console, and he shows us just how great it was to get back into Sega gaming in volume 34 of our Stories from the Book of Genesis series. Enjoy!

Somehow, I felt nostalgic reading about someone ELSE'S nostalgia. That was a very good read there.

There is something very special about this system.....

I know how you feel about your toddler.....My 2 1/2 year old daughter picked up my genesis controller and said "pway games dadda" and there she was getting a kick out of sonic jumping in place over, and over, and over again......

Just wondering, have you ever played Surround on the Atari 2600?

My 3 year old has been doing the same thing for a couple years now. Every time he sees my Genesis box in the game room, he says "look, dada, Sonic!" Best feeling in the world.

Thanks everyone for the kind words! To be perfectly honest I was a little hesitant to even submit this story at all due to the heavy cheese factor. I am glad some of you could relate to it.

It's a crazy feeling isn't it? Now my son has been playing Twisted Metal 2 all week. Not doing so hot, but he manages to fire off a homing missile every now and again. He is a jr techie for sure.

Yes, fun game. I believe I still have it (buried in the back of the closet...).

This is my favorite 'Genesis' story. I haven't looked at my Sega in a long time and pondered how old it really is. I'd get rid of my Wii, X-Box 360, PS3 and NES before I handed over any Sega console, let alone the Genesis. I wish I could describe what makes it so special to me, beyond the memories. There was/is something magical about Sega and thier game consoles. Thanks for helping me to some how appreciate my Genesis a little more!

Easily one of the best stories I've read on this site. Nice work.

Thanks again for the kind words everyone, I'm glad you liked it.

And for those who think it's cool my kid is playing Twisted Metal 2...

My son playing. He still gets his butt kicked, but he is learning to steer and occasionally, shoot. Why just today I watching as he tracked a pedestrian, took careful aim, and (clearly taking a tip from mommy's driving) mowed him down! Be afraid people, be very afraid!

Zoom! is highly underrated; it is very challenging and addictive. I much prefer it to Columns.

That may be true, I had fun playing it too, but it is certainly no classic by any means. At least not in the sense that Shinobi, Golden Axe, and Super Hang On are.
