Man, you're just here to make us feel bad for not having a CDX, right?
At any rate, I think the problem is likely in the video cable for it. It could be a little dirty, just plain old and worn, or not attached to the input on your TV all the way. Try poking at that, first.

Hi,
Thanks for replying! that's a good idea and I dug out my old rf adapter for genny 2. Same thing and it only happens when the cd lens is moving so my guess would be that the motor in charge of the lens gives off a charge or something and interferes with the video chip. If anyone has a segacd 1 or 2, can you tell me if it does the same thing? None of my friends have it (big surprise) and im probably the only one in my neighborhood with so much sega Thanks, Blades |

this sounds more like a ground loop problem.. there's a faulty ground somewhere in it, it seems..

meaning, when the motors are running, it's causing interference on the circuit because I think there's a ground short somwhere..

AH Now I get it. Thanks. Is there anyway to fix it or not? Or does it indicate that the previous owner treated it bad? lol I love it anyway

You know, this happens with my model 1 SCD and High Definition Graphics genesis.
Only happens when the CD is being accessed, and only most of the time. It's also pretty faint. |

yea, that's a ground loop.. in the case of the BIG Genesis setup, it can be anything, from bad connectors on the board, to bad shielding plates (those are usefull)

Hi,
Oh well, It's not really noticeable and I don't want to risk opening the CDX and it works 99% so I guess Ill just leave it. Thanks for all your help, Blades |

Yeah, that's not the kinda thing you wanna screw around with if you're not sure what you're doing. A friend of mine totally jinxed a Dreamcast trying to replace the lens once. I'm not sure what he did, but he couldn't even put it back together afterwards.

suks for your friend huh? so it wont have any long-lasting effects right? such as it messing up the processors or something. It is kinda cramped in the CDX.
