Default ESWAT: City under Siege

During the 16-bit era, it was normal practice for Sega to release home versions of their arcade hits that were almost different games altogether. This was seen in Moonwalker and Shadow Dancer. Another game to receive the treatment was ESWAT: City under Siege. Red our full review to see how it compared to the original.

I disagree with the review. I love ESWAT. In fact, it's easily one of my favorite Genesis games. The graphics and soundtrack are downright godly for a 1990 early Genesis title. The gameplay is also really fun choosing from the different weapons depending on the circumstance and using the awesome jetpack. I like how the Genesis version incorporates the jetpack into the gameplay which is something lacking in the arcade version.

Yeah whoever reviewed that game got it mostly wrong. I didn't hear any techno music in the game, you don't wear rocket booster boots and you definitely don't have a weapon that shoots rapid firing lasers! I'll admit that this game is the type you don't want to rush through to beat it.

I finally picked this game up for 50p the other day and my opinion of it has sharply risen, the game is classic early MD title through and through, it's not that easy to begin with but when you learn it the gameplay's really rewarding. The music is amazing too, I think I'd give it at the very least an 8/10

I enjoyed the Genesis version of ESWAT very much as well. much more so than the arcade version. It's a neat little game.

I was playing this on Sonic's UGC the other day. It's a nice game, but it's a lot less action-y than the arcade. It's an excellent game, but it's obviously derived from Shinobi same as Bare Knuckles owes its design to Golden Axe. I just wish it had more action... bullets are so slow, and success seems to favor plodding along slowly instead of swooping around machine guns blazing as I would expect in a mech vs. human game.

I will never forget the opening title screen as it shouted, "E-SWAT!" in that deep voice. I believe it was the first time I'd ever heard a video game talk. So very iconic for me. And the game is a blast (although quite challenging) to boot.

I know I said it before, but recently I've gotten back into playing this again (can't remember what happened last time but I moved onto another game I think) and seriously, this game is pure class, the level design is intricate, really clever and well designed, I just got up to the section where you get the recharge platforms and then one of them malfunctions and supercharges you whilst you fight a big flying machine.

I love it when I'm playing a game and I think "wouldn't it be cool if they'd done this..." and then suddenly bang, there it is on the next level, this is what continually happens with this game.

Such an excellent game, the boss-level music hunts me down till this day, i never finished this game, but i will sometime for sure, another classic. A good action game.

Not bad for an early effort, always loved the music and cheesy voices in it. Nowadays I can't get past the sewer level. Too much memorization + clunky controls =
