SegaSaturno did it again. After the rodent release, now it's up to the X-Men to do what rats cannot.
![]() Bishop is coming to 32X town and has a few words for everyone. ![]() How convenient. http://www.segasaturno.com/portal/in...?topic_id=3969 http://www.hidden-palace.org/?releases/1094 (yes, Hidden Palace is hosting SegaSaturno's goodies now) Have fun with Bishop. Note: This can't be emulated yet.

Graphically that looks amazing for a 32x game. Good balance of textured polygons and scaling sprites. The frame rate looked solid as well.
Looks like a bitch to play, but possibly the best looking 32x game we've seen? |

Why doesn't this work in emulators?

I got the title screen in Gen/GS by resetting the 68000. You get the music as well. However, when you press START, you get the level music, but no display.
Works fine on my MD-Pro 64 flash cart and 32X/CDX. Not much to the game, but it showed good promise. Last edited by Chilly Willy; 08-09-2009 at 05:30 PM. |

I tried it on my MD-Pro. It sounds extremely much like Jesper Kyd's work on the Mega Drive and it looks very, very good for being 32X. Maybe the sprites are a bit pixelated, but definitely PSX quality in the environments. Too bad it controls like Mortal Kombat, but I guess the controls are nowhere finished either.

I dunno; the gameplay looks a bit lackluster, and even though the graphics are cutting edge for the 32X, they look like grainy PSX graphics, which I'm not fond of...

There's a new footage video up. It shows what seems to be an early version of one of the specific Rogue levels (albeit still played with Bishop in this proto).
The ninja-themed level from the other video was being assigned to Wolverine in the final version anyway. Yup, Jesper Kyd was in charge of this one. You can even listen a remixed version of the Two-Face's theme from The Adventures of Batman & Robin in the Rogue level video.

Yes, they've finally released it to the public!!!
To echo what everyone has said so far, this is indeed the best-looking 32X game I've seen yet. Nice texture-mapped backgrounds, decent pre-rendered sprites and animation which showcase what the 32X can do with 2D scaling. The draw distance is abysmal, but that's understandable considering its the 32X we're talking about. The gameplay doesn't look too hot though. I'm not sure those accustomed to the previous fast-paced, action-packed "X-Men" games, like the coin-op, the two Genesis installments and Capcom's SNES X-Men game, would've received it well. But again, this is the 32X we're talking about, and I'm convinced that this is the best they could do, lest they wanted to make yet another side-scroller. Anyone playing it on their flash carts (*grumble grumble* won't work on emulators! *grumble grumble*) can tell if the sound's being handled by the Genny hardware or in tandem with the 32X hardware? The game was being developed by Scavenger, of "Sub-Terrania" and "Red Zone" fame, as well as their penchant for Genesis & 32X technical demos (not to mention the bolded exclamations of what their games/demos accomplish on the hardware), which explains why Jesper Kyd was on board. Looks like they put their skill with that 32X technical demo to good use with this game. |
