Turbo OutRun

Sega’s OutRun series has been tearing up the roads for almost three decades. Though gamers received a true sequel only a few years ago with the incredible OutRun 2, there were many titles released in the series during the interval. One arcade sequel that was brought home to Europe and Japan was Turbo OutRun, and while it is faithful to its source material in spirit, the actual execution leaves much to be desired.

Flink

Some of today’s younger gamers might not know the name Henk Nieborg, and that’s a shame. As one of the most pronounced pixel artists in gaming, his work has adorned such classic titles as Lionheart (Amiga), Shadow of the Beast (multi-platform), and The Adventures of Lomax (Playstation). The first game he designed himself was a little platformer for the Mega Drive/Sega CD called The Misadventures of Flink. Incredibly detailed and bathed in some of the most gorgeous artwork of the era, Flink was equally remembered for being very, very long – and hard (damn hard, if I do say so myself).

Daze Before Christmas

Daze Before Christmas is an Australia-only release, a seasonal platformer that Americans missed out on. Being one of the few Christmas-themed titles on the console, there’s obviously some curiosity as to whether or not it’s worth playing. Micro Machines

Who doesn’t like Micro Machines? Simple, yet incredibly addictive, Codemasters beloved series reached legendary heights with the introduction of the ingenius J-Cart, which allowed up to four people to enjoy the fun. While not as ambitious as those later installments, the original game still holds its own against the competition and is more than worth the purchase price.
