I know there are game genie codes for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 that give Sonic a certain ability, for example Always able to use fireball dash, after double jumping. I was wondering if you could make a game genie code for when it's combined with S&K to give him the water shield's bubble bounce ability.

Jeff, I'm working on other codes right now, but when I'm done I'll take a look at it.

Phantasy Star II

E2MT-CA88
No random battles.

FAMT-CAG6 +

Random battles happen every 10 steps (20 steps in dungeons and towers).

LAMT-CAG6 +
HTMT-DFR4 +
E2MT-CN88
Random battles happen every 20 steps (40 steps in dungeons and towers).

SAMT-CAG6
HTMT-DFR4 +
E2MT-CN88
Random battles happen every 30 steps (60 steps in dungeons and towers).

3AMT-CAG6

Random battles happen every 50 steps (100 steps in dungeons and towers).

REMT-C604
More frequent random battles.

KEMT-C784
very few random battles.

P.S. Can someone tell me where the nearest dungeon or tower is from the very beginning of the game? How much time is involved in getting there?

EDIT: Code descriptions have been updated.

http://pscave.com/ps2/images/mota1.gif

Go to the northeast circle on the continent (ignore the circled marine area).
Walking there takes very little actual time and you can first teleport to Arima (east town) if you've been there before; w/o encounters it should be 3 minutes or less. Under normal circumstances one would want to be up a few levels, say Rolf @ ~ 8 before heading into that dungeon (called Shure). The precise lv isn't important, equipment will make a larger difference.

Some observations on the codes thus far:

Phantasy Star II
E2MT-CA88
No random battles. This is redundant for players using the three part codes. Disabling the period variable (10/20/30/&c # of steps) from the three part code eliminates all encounters for me.
Ie leave on only
HTMT-DFR4 +
E2MT-CN88
to have zero encounters.

FAMT-CAG6 +
HTMT-DFR4 +
E2MT-CN88
Random battles happen every 10 steps (20 steps in dungeons and towers). 10 steps is actually higher than the game normally provides as an avg so this makes for a good moderate grind code for working in new party members (for players who don't enjoy throwing lv 1 characters into the fire).

LAMT-CAG6 +
HTMT-DFR4 +
E2MT-CN88
Random battles happen every 20 steps (40 steps in dungeons and towers). This is a nice period, it feels natural to the game whilst eliminating end-to-end encounters. For dungeons however it's too low for my taste.

SAMT-CAG6
HTMT-DFR4 +
E2MT-CN88
Random battles happen every 30 steps (60 steps in dungeons and towers). 30 is also a good period as it represents the luckier side of the game's natural encounter rate.

REMT-C604
More frequent random battles. This works well.

KEMT-C784
very few random battles. So does this.

*** Any chance of a code set that inverts the map-dungeon encounter rates? Ie twice as many encounters in dungeons as on the map. Or, that keeps them equal (20 steps each, etc).

Tony H

StarMist, thanks for your input on the codes so far. As far as equal encounters in dungeons... I'm sure it can be done, but the files I used for encounters have been overwritten by newer code searches. When I'm done with all the codes, I'll try to remember to come back to that one.

Here are the newest codes. These can be easily modified to get any combination of 4 characters that you want (including with or without Rolf and Nei). I didn't include any codes without Rolf because I didn't know if it would cause any problems in the game later on.

EDIT: You can't add all these codes together to start with all 8 characters. I'm working on an "All 8 characters" code, but it's not cooperating. :-)

Yeah if Rolf's somehow unavailable (??!!) the game should break; same for Nei. Story purposes. It might just coast along w/o noticing Rolf's absence, early on at least, since normally it's impossible not to have him in the group even if he's dead, but eventually he'll be needed. Nei will sooner.
I also know for certain the game can be broken through abuse later on by circumventing the impossible with GG/PAR codes, but that's just stupid invulnerability stuff.

I hope all your efforts contribute something to future coding for other games rather than being isolated to this one.

EDIT -- Bad news I'm afraid: I'm getting a doppelganger Rolf on trying Hugh's code. Also I'm not seeing Shir. As I've only just tried Hugh's code and Shir's in conjunction w/ it I don't know whether this occurs for every character. This leads me to suspect Rolf can't be removed from the coding so if you're adding code to ensure he's in it's unnecessary.
Problem #2 = These added characters don't appear on the roster in Rolf's home. To find this go into his home (the little dwelling he and Nei exit from once the prologue ends), negative the query "Shall we continue on our way without any changes?", then See Strength or change characters.

One way to search for the character release would be wherever events are indexed. Eg Rolf is released once the player has journeyed to Arima. Amy is released after the player has crossed the bridge or reached Oputa (I should remember which...); if you can't find any log for a bridge search for Teim + Darum. But searching Oputa would be more expedient.

Also I can confirm the early character code does not manipulate an already under way game.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I've already spent too much time on the extra character codes, so I think for now at least, I'm not going to dig any deeper into those codes.

I do have more new codes though. You requested a code to let Rolf start with Moon Dew. I've come up with what I think is a better code... The ability to buy Moon Dew in the Item Shop in Paseo. This has two benifits: 1) You don't need to start a new game to get Moon Dew. 2) You can get Moon Dew anytime you want during the game.

C2MA-C8AW +
ACEA-ELEN
Can buy Moon Dew in the item shop in Paseo (costs $12000). By modifying the
first code (C2MA-C8AW), you can get any item you want.

AA1A-CAGW

=============

This code can be modified to get any item you want. Are there any other items that I should make codes for?

StarMist
12-28-2012, 09:35 PM
Great work.

More items? Star Mist (it's an item; I'm perfectly aware nobody wants to spend money on me) could be up for sale. 6k would be good; I feel it's half Moon Dew's value would be right.
-- In terms of disposable items PSII's pretty bare. Although it's highly redundant to all the encounter rate codes you've made you could drop Hidapipe's price to 100m and have it for sale in Paseo (it might be there, I never use it, but I don't think so). Its price of 280m makes it undesirable for early use.
-- For gear if you wanted to make the Color Scarf and Wind Scarf available for purchase @ 15k that would probably do; they're unique items found in dungeons but not overpowering like some of the later stuff. Anything beyond them would just be you looking up values or eqp charts and deciding to throw something powerful into an early part of the game.

What do Moon Dew and Star Mist do? (Never mind).

I've found all the stats for everything in the game, so I'm going to make some codes that change the strength of some of the items (Res, etc). I know you didn't request these, but I get lots of requests for that type of code, so figured I make them while I was at it.

EDIT: Found out what Moon Dew and Star Mist do.

Question: Does Trimate work on all members of your party, or just one? The guide I was reading wasn't clear on that.

StarMist
12-29-2012, 02:07 PM
1. The 'tri' refers to its strength. Only Moon dew and star Mist affect the party, excepting the pipes which are of altogether different use.

If you're going to change any eqp strengths let me know, otherwise I'm tapped for this game.

Lots of players have a gripe with Rudo's early weapons. I don't but anyhow this is the last of anything I haven't already suggested so here's a list with moderate augmentations.
Original values are based off this chart http://www.gamefaqs.com/genesis/526675-phantasy-star-ii/faqs/9816 ; if you find any discrepancies adjust them as you will.

Bowgun = 16 -->> 25.
Sonicgun = 17 -->> 30.
Shotgun = 20 -->> 25. (I never use these early guns but believe this is a group attack weapon rather than a single attack, hence the lower increase).
Cannon = 36 -->> 48.
... Guns also ignore heavy armour so their low default attacks will be offset by having no decrease against heavily armoured enemies that greatly reduce other wps' dmg.

If these increases seem unsatisfactory try raising them by 3 and 6. 6 more than what I've suggested should make Rudo quite unbalanced.

Tony H

StarMist, will work on the weapon stat codes next.

The "start in xx town" codes below might add some new life to the game. If you know the name of the mystery town below, let me know. All the people there were saying something like "Ga? Banaput dote". The town is located in some snow covered mountains.

There are 3 such towns.
http://pscave.com/ps2/towns/
Click each image to see its map.

With such codes provided you ought to provide codes to begin with a Mogic Cap.* You could also give the farm away by providing players with the Magic Cap. Beginning in any of these 3 towns would be interesting to see but almost certainly game-breaking so don't go overboard inventing specific codes related to them. Characters would also need to be freakishly overpowered to stand a chance in this realm.
* Otherwise the party will not be able to communicate with the denizens of these towns. The Magic Cap is simply better than the Mogic.

Btw I'll double check the early character unlock codes to see if on reaching the gamepoint where the characters normally join the issues concerning them resolve.

Tony H

The "Start in xx town" codes were kind of a byproduct of the teleport codes, so I just included them in case anyone wanted to play around with it.

I've got all of your weapon stat codes. Note that the way they work on 2 handed weapons is the actual attack value in the ROM is half of the amount shown in the game. One handed weapons are a 1 to 1 ratio.

I included some extra codes for completeness.

This is the first "first person" type game that I've made a walk thru walls code for. Seems to work fine. If you go outside of the normal limits/boundaries of the labyrinth, visually it appears as if any walls are far off in the distance. Also, you get battles with every step. Tony H

Vintagegamecrazy, there are 2 different versions of that game. Any chance you know which version you have?

EDIT: For now I'm using version "rev A".

I have a question... I made a code that lets you start at max speed, but I noticed that when playing Tetris, it lets you select the speed you want to start at with a little slider (from 0 to 20). Can't you just set that to the max speed when you start a new game?

Here's the GG code:

TPELGYPE
Start at max speed of 30 (only tested in Tetris). Leave level slider at 0.

I only tested it with Tetris, and only on the first level with the speed selector set at 1. From the looks of the programming, if you get to level 2, the speed will probably drop back down to a lower level. Will need to make a second code to fix that, but will wait until I hear from you about the speed selector. I may be making the wrong type of code.

EDIT 2: The max speed you can select with the slider is 20, but the GG code above is for a speed of 30. Is that what you meant by max speed?

EDIT 3: While sitting here, I just figured out how to get the max speed (30) to start and stay at 30 with a single code. The code above will start at level 30 but will probably drop back down to a lower speed when you finish that level (although I couldn't finish the first level to test it because it was going way too fast). When testing the code, remember to leave the level slider at the lowest setting. If the code above works and it is what you're looking for, let me know and I'll make an improved code.

If the code doesn't work at all, you probably have the other version.

I REALLY don't want to have to play through it all again normally to grab my screenshots, or when I'm double checking things for the review. So something like unlimited ammo and unlimited health would be very helpful.

Edit: Oh, and this is for emulation (Kega Fusion to be exact).

Coop, I haven't made any Sega CD codes/hacks in ages. If I can remember which emulator to use, etc, I'll see what I can do.

If it helps, Kega Fusion is the one where you can mount ISOs and such right in the EMU, without having to use a virtual drive.

Also, there's this that might be of potential use...

Coop, I can now tell you 3 different emulators that will not work for hacking RDF: Global Conflict on the Sega-CD... Kega Fusion, Gens Tracer and Gens Tracer 9.5b. Gens 9.5b is capable of hacking Sega CD games, but for some reason, I couldn't get it to work right with this game. If I remember correctly, a program called Cheat Engine might work. Will give it a try.

I like this game. It reminds me of an old Genesis game called M1 Abrams Battle Tank.

Coop, good news... I've got a couple hacks for you to try. I'm using Hex Workshop, but you can probably use any hex editor. There's a free trial version of Hex Workshop (bpsoft.com), or plenty of really good freeware versions.

Just open up your ISO file with your hex editor, click on "Find" (or what ever lets you search for hex values), then type in the search numbers listed below. I've set these up so there will only be one match. Make the changes listed, save, exit.

I'll have the other hacks soon. Let me know if these work.

RDF: Global Conflict (Sega CD)

Infinite 1.20 ammo.
With your hex editor, search for 8E4E4504790001. Change the last 01 to 00.

Infinite 7.62 ammo.

As soon as I'm done with my current project, I'll take a look at it. By "currents", I assume you mean water currents that push Ecco? Which level(s) have them?

Also, did you check out these codes for Ecco? http://codehut.gshi.org/GenMultiGGu.txt

Infinite Smoke ammo...
With your hex editor, search for 006004790001. Change the last 01 to 00.

RDF: Global Conflict (Sega CD)

Start a new game with twice as much fuel. Note that picking up an extra fuel
can will cause your fuel level to drop back down to the "normal" full level,
so it's best not to pick up a fuel can until your fuel level gets below the
half way mark...
With your hex editor, search for 50B233FC2700. Change the 2700 to 4E00.

Fuel can pick-ups give you twice as much fuel...
With your hex editor, search for 4E7533FC2700. Change the 2700 to 4E00.

Flashback (U)

Walk on air. Can walk across any opening without falling. Release the

With your hex editor, search for the 10th occurrence of 660470FF. Change the
70FF to 4E75.

Walk thru walls, trees, etc...
With your hex editor, search for the 6th occurrence of 4A00660470FF4E757000.
Change the 7000 to 4E75.
Part 2: With your hex editor, search for the 7th occurrence of 4A40660470FF.
Change the 70FF to 4E75.

===============================

Road Rash (U)

NOTE: I found that the only way Road Rash will work is if you have "Perfect
sync" enabled (Fusion, Gens, etc).

No traffic...
With your hex editor, search for 2080002540. Change the 2540 to 6006.
Raw code = 03191A?2540:6006 (for use on some emulators, no hacking required).

Make the 125 Perro Pico bike accelerate much faster. You can buy the Perro Pico
bike in the shop, or pick Pearl or Slim as your character...
With your hex editor, search for 0022001C00150012000F000C. These are the values
used to determine the acceleration in each of the 6 gears. Change them to this
to accelerate much faster: 003E 0038 0033 002E 0028 0023. Don't include the
spaces. You can use higher numbers if you want. Keep in mind that your top
speed will still be 113 MPH unless you use the hack below.

Make the 125 Perro Pico bike have a much higher top speed...
With your hex editor, search for 26D02C24. Change the 2C24 to 38A4 for a top
speed of 145 MPH. Change the 2C24 to 4650 for a top speed of 180 MPH. Normal
top speed is 113 MPH. If you are going to use a very high top speed, it's
highly recommended that you use the acceleration hack too, or else the bike will
take a looong time to accelerate to top speed.

Here's the formula to figure out your own top speed. Take the top speed you
want and add two zeros to it, then convert to hex. Example: for a top speed
of 215 MPH, 21500 converted to hex = 53FC.

Would it (at all) be possible to create codes for a game such as Another World (Out of this World in the USA)?
I'm interested in a code for unlimited ammo, at least for the 2nd level.

When fully charged, you can fire up to 20 big blasts with the laser pistol. But when first obtained in the 2nd
level (password HTDC), it is very low on ammo and you can only fire 2 big blasts with it. I'm not sure how
else to describe it, but there is a small indicator light on the pistol that 'flashes' on and off when it is running
low on ammo. This light is visibile both in the small cutscene where you first pick up the pistol as in the
gameplay itself.

The first recharge point is located in the 4th level (password LBKG).

Thanks in advance!

Tony H

Tony H

It looks like there are no Game Genie codes at all for either of the games (only a couple PAR codes). Because of the way the game was programmed, an "infinite ammo" code wasn't going to work too well. The sub routine that subtracts from your amount of ammo, is also used for lots of other stuff. I had multiple problems with it, so I went a slightly different direction. The code below will let you shoot the "super shot" about 200 times when you first pick up the weapon in level 2, and maybe more when fully charged. You are given 199 ammo units when you pick up the gun. The super shot normally uses 100 ammo units but the code makes it only use 1 ammo unit. I also make a code for the "shield" so that it only uses 1 ammo unit instead of 10.

I'm going to make some more codes shortly. Probably a code to make the shield last longer (maybe infinite?), and an invincibility code if possible.

Out of this World (Genesis)

AV1T-M96C
When you fire a super shot with your pistol (hold down the shoot button for 4
seconds), it only uses 1 part of your ammo (instead of 100). This lets you shoot
a few hundred super shots instead of only a few.

971A-M992
When you use your pistol shield (hold down the shoot button for 2 seconds), it
only uses 1 part of your ammo (instead of 10).

I think I read somewhere that you can't use your gun towards the end on the 2nd level. I can probably make a code to fix that. A save state shortly before you can't shoot anymore would be a great help. I use Gens, but I think Kega Fusion save states will also work.

Did some more testing and I can confirm the gun keeps on working at the end of the 2nd level if your buddy is still alive.
Was hoping there would be another screen to the left, but you just re-appear on the right of the screen if you go left.
But the codes work great, thanks!! :D

Edit: Would it be possible to make a code to get the gun in the 1st level? I'd love to try out some stuff if that were
possible :)

Edit 2: Once the guard at the end of the 2nd level has opened the door, your gun will no longer work. But while he's
busy opening the door, you can blast it open, kill him and the gun will keep working. You will have killed the guard,
though the image of him working the door will still be there.

Thanks for the heads up on the jump codes. I'll do more testing on those.

The no-enemies cheat is fun to play around with, but just remember that you'll need to turn it off at certain times if you want to progress. I was able to get to several places that you normally can't get to. You can walk thru walls and obstacles, and you can walk over most openings (like the opening where the cage drops on the guard in level 2).

GelmiR, you're right, the jump codes only work on level 1. It appears as if it will require a different set of jump codes for each level. Never seen that in a Genesis game before. Anyways, way too time consuming to do that. I made a set for level 2 though. Kind of fun jumping right past the guards. :-)

Lunar: Eternal Blue (Sega CD bin hack)

How to hack Hiro's starting HP, MP, weapon, armor, and items. Note that these
hacks will only work when you start a NEW game. They won't work on saved games.

To hack Hiro's starting HP and MP...
With your hex editor, search for the first occurrence of 00140014000F000F05.
The first 0014 is for Hiro's current HP, and the second 0014 is for Hiro's max
HP. Change them to whatever value you want (in hex). The first 000F is for
Hiro's current MP, and the second 000F is for Hiro's max MP. Change them to
whatever value you want (in hex). Not sure if the game has a limit on how high
your HP and MP can go, so be careful.

To hack Hiro's starting weapon and armor...
With your hex editor, search for the first occurrence of 3900710000. The 39 is
Hiro's normal starting weapon (Dagger), and the 71 is hiro's normal starting armor
(Peasant Clothes). Change those numbers to whatever weapon and armor you want to
start with using the list of weapons, armor, etc and matching hex numbers from
here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/segacd/587964-lunar-eternal-blue/faqs/36608

Will post the hack for items later.

Tony H
03-08-2013, 04:26 PM
Also including hacks for magic and skills, as well as items.

As before, these must be hacked into the bin file, and then start a new game.

Lunar: Eternal Blue (Sega CD bin hack)

To hack Hiro's starting items...
With your hex editor, search for the first occurrence of 181818181A. Right after
this string, you'll see 6 bytes of 00 (12 zeros total). These are for the 6
empty item slots in Hiro's starting inventory. You can change any of those 6
bytes of zeros to start with any items you want. Just use the hex numbers from
this list: http://www.gamefaqs.com/segacd/587964-lunar-eternal-blue/faqs/36608

One more thing you can hack is Hiro's starting magic and sword skills, although I
haven't tested this yet...
With your hex editor, search for the first occurrence of 010000000D. The 01 is
the Boomerang magic that he normally starts with, and the 0D at the end is the
Poe Sword skill that he normally starts with. I'm pretty sure you can change
the 3 bytes of zeros inbetween them to whatever magic you want, and change the
3 bytes of zeros after the 0D to whatever sword skills you want. Use hex numbers
from here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/segacd/587964-lunar-eternal-blue/faqs/36608.
I'm not too familiar with the game, so not too sure what the difference is between
magic and skills.

Some more.

Open up your "Lunar: Eternal Blue" bin file with a hex editor...

Lunar: Eternal Blue (Sega CD)

To hack Ruby's starting items...
With your hex editor, search for the first occurrence of 181818181A1A. These are
the 6 items that Ruby normally starts with. Right after this string you'll find
a whole bunch of zeros. You can change those zeros to have Ruby start with an
extra 66 items! That's 66 of any items, weapons, or armor that you want. Just
pick which items you want from this list, and hack in the hex numbers it gives
you: http://www.gamefaqs.com/segacd/587964-lunar-eternal-blue/faqs/36608
You'll find a "0016" at the end of all those zeros. Make sure that you don't
change that "0016" at the end. In other words, don't try to hack more than 66
new items. Must start a new game for this hack to work.

To hack what's for sale at the shop in Larpa...
With your hex editor, search for the first occurrence of: 393E7172B41820. These
are the normal items that are for sale in the shop. Just change those numbers to
whatever items, weapons, or armor you want using the matching hex numbers from
this list:http://www.gamefaqs.com/segacd/587964-lunar-eternal-blue/faqs/36608
This hack will work on new or saved games.

To hack how much magic experience a spell class needs to level up...
With your hex editor, search for the only occurrence of: 000F001A003D0085. This
is the start of the magic experience needed for each "level up". There are 29
levels. Each level uses 2 bytes. The last level has a hex value of 9883. If
you wanted to go all the way to the last level, just change all those bytes to
zeros, except the 9883. Now the next time you get any magic experience, you
should level all the way up. Will work on a new or saved game. Keep in mind that
I haven't tested this yet, so use it at your own risk.

So I enter the master code and then another code?

Yes. Enter the master code, and then enter up to 4 other codes as well.

The reason you need the master code is because when the game first starts, it goes through the entire ROM and adds up every single byte, and then compares that total to what the total is supposed to be. If the two don't match, it will give you a blank screen and the game won't run. Well, a Game Genie code will cause one of those bytes in the ROM to change, so the totals won't match. A master code just makes it ignore the fact that the two don't match.

Have made some progress. I know this isn't what you were looking for, but I'm just posting new codes as I dig deeper into the game.

Here's how this code works... whatever two colors you start out with will be the same two colors you always get for the entire level. This makes it much easier to match colors since there will only be 2 different colors. It also applies to the CPU.

HappehLemons, I've made a little more progress. With Game Genie codes, I can now completely change which colors are used in the game, but are still limited to the original 5 colors (red, yellow, green, purple, and blue). What this means is we can eliminate any of those colors, or change one color for another. Would any of that be helpful? If so, let me know which color(s) you want changed.

I'm also working on a "glitch" bean that can be swapped with another color. The glitch bean is not shaped at all like the normal beans, so it will be very easy to tell them apart just by their shape. I'm having a hard time getting it to work right though, so no guarantees.

Tony H
03-23-2013, 02:10 PM
Here's a sample code for you to try. You mentioned that you have trouble differentiating between red and green, and purple and blue. This code eliminates green and purple beans by switching them with red and blue. So if the game calls for a green bean, it will use a red bean instead, and purple is replaced with blue. Let me know if it's any help.

Good news... As I mentioned earlier, I've never really done any color hacking before, so I did some reading and finally got it figured out. I found the palette for the purple bean, and successfully change it's color to white, pink, and black. Yea.

There is a small problem though... If you look closely at any one of the beans, you'll see that they are in fact not a solid color. Each bean has several different shades of color. If you were using an emulator, that wouldn't be a problem, but because the actual Game Genie has a 5 code limit, we're going to have to compromise. Since we'll want to change the color of 2 beans, we can use 2 codes on one bean, and 3 codes on the second bean. Some of the old color might still be there, but I think if we change the outer most layers, you'll be able to differentiate between the other colors.

I need some info from you. Since I already found the palette for the purple bean, I hope it's OK if we make that one of the beans that we change. If the purple bean is OK with you, I'll need to know what color would be best to change it to. You can pick ANY color you want. I'll also need to know which other bean you want to change, and what color you want it changed to.

Tony H
03-24-2013, 01:33 PM
As I mentioned, we're going to have to compromise because of the 5 code limit of the Game Genie. It would look much better with 10 codes, so if you ever want to play on an emulator, or use a hacked ROM on real hardware (SD card, etc), let me know and I'll give you all 10 codes.

I took a screen shot with the 5 codes active. Let me know if this will work. It looks kind of patchy, but that can't be helped because of the 5 code limit. Also note that the "Pause" text and part of the score use the same palette as the red beans, so their color is also changed a little bit, although I changed it around a little to minimize this side effect. Shouldn't be a problem.

I'm not sure what you're asking for. Do you want codes to get rid of the red screen? If there is a "Master code" for the game, it will usually get rid of the red screen. Here's another trick you can use to get rid of the red screen: http://codehut.gshi.org/GGMasterCodesSega.txt

lumclaw

Wouldn't the translation patches remove region lock? Perhaps you're getting an error due to trying original Japanese codes, with hacked games.

Tony H
03-30-2013, 05:59 PM
I've never looked closely at any translation patches, but if I were making one, I would definitely remove any regional locks.

A regional lockout will usually show up as a text message telling you it will only work with certain systems, whereas a blank/red screen is usually from a failed checksum check. A master code will kill the checksum check so the game will start successfully.

If someone has made a translation patch, they can either include the master code as part of the patch, or they can change the checksum to match the newly hacked ROM. If they changed the checksum, then you would get a blank/red screen when using any Game Genie codes. A master code should fix that problem.

Wizzard77, if you can, try using the method in the link of getting rid of the master code and see if it works. If you need a master code, let me know.

EDIT: Generally, translation patches won't affect most Game Genie codes.

Tony, is there any chance that you could make a code for Warrior of Rome II that makes the player win instantly upon starting a level in Campaign mode? I think if you can find a way to set the enemy's number of remaining armies to zero, and do the same for his fortresses, that'll do the trick. I'd like to take some screenshots from later in the game for my review.

Alternatively, if you can find the place in the ROM where the names of the different locations in Campaign mode are stored, that'd be helpful. I tried using a relatlve search engine to find them, but had no luck. The last few are Ariminum, Aquileia, Neapolis, and Rome, and I think Cyzicos is in there somewhere, but as far as I can tell, neither the game nor the manual actually gives you a list of the locations (let alone telling you which of the 20 maps in Map Select mode have equivalents in the 16 maps of Campaign mode).

Thanks in advance for anything you have time to do!

After spending some time with the game, it looks like it will take too much time to figure it out, so I'm giving up on the instant win code. Good news. I found some useful codes, but I'll need help figuring out exactly what the codes do, and how to describe them.

When you are on the map screen, there is a box with the word "Building", and in that box is a bar with a red heart above it. I think that bar determines how fast your guys build buildings. Is that correct? Does the bar tell you anything else? Is that bar only for your guys, or is it for you and your enemies?

I have a code to let you start a new game with that bar at max (or anywhere in between). I also think I found a code to make your enemy build things much slower, and never get any extra guys. Will post them when I finish testing, and get that info from you.

EDIT: here's one of the codes:

992A-6VEL
Start a new game with building speed??? maxed out, and soldier bar ??? almost maxed out. Not sure what to call either of those. Both of them are in the "Building" box. What does the soldier bar do? (little blue soldier in the building box that you have to scroll to the right to see).

Here's another code for Warrior of Rome 2. I only have a PAR code right now, but will hopefully have a Game Genie version tomorrow.

FF0B78:82
Enemy doesn't get any extra troops, and they mostly just stand around without building much. This code has only been tested with Gens (not sure if it will work with Fusion).

EDIT: Code works fine with Fusion too.

It's possible that this code will make the enemies fortress indestructible, but I don't know how to attack yet so I'm not sure.

Could you please make some codes for Chuck Rock 2 (Mega Drive EU version)? Invincibility and infinite lives would be great :) Thanks in advance!

I made a few extra codes while I was at it.

I made 2 different kinds of invincibility codes. Flashing and non flashing. The flashing type protects you from everything, but some people get annoyed by the flashing. The "Non" flashing type doesn't flash, but the draw back is that it doesn't protect you from spikes. Take your pick.

Also, if you want a code to make you jump even higher than the ones I made, just let me know.

Chuck Rock 2: Son of Chuck (E)

CLMA-EA4A
Invincibility (non flashing). Can walk thru enemies. Spikes still hurt you.

RFLT-E6W6
Invincibility (flashing). Can walk thru enemies. Spikes don't hurt you.

9BTA-F95L
Jump higher. Note: At the very beginning of the game, there are some telephone lines

enemy has run by or else you may get stuck.

Thanks, but I mistakenly took the flashing version of the code to be an infinite health code instead of invincibility, so I haven't tried combining them.
Feedback on the codes:

Non-flashing version of invincibility works great for the most part. You mentioned spikes still hurt, so do lava and sewer 'water' in
some of the later levels.

Infinite lives works great, except for the 2nd snow level. Here you have to ride a moose, on which you need to make several jumps
to cross spikes etc. If you fail to do this, the game seems to freeze for a second, after which you loose a life and restart the level.

The jumping code (haven't tried the 'even higher' code) works great as well, though you can get stuck in other locations as well.
I got stuck in one of the sewer levels, but there might be other places as well.

Thanks again :)

In Junction, you unlock Stages 51-60 from the configuration menu after you beat Stage 50 with 100k points in hand. It'd be great to have a Game Genie code to access those levels from the start, without having to beat the very difficult Stage 50 (let alone contrive to score 100k points in doing so).

I don't think there are more unlockable levels after Stage 60, since you get kicked back to the title screen after beating any single one of Stages 51-60. But after I beat Stage 60 (which is hard as hell) I foolishly forgot to double-check the config menu before turning the game off. :(

BTW Tony H, thanks again for the Warrior of Rome II codes. For a variety of reasons I haven't tried them out yet, but I will at some point and they're very much appreciated.

Tony H, any interest in finding codes for 32X games? I'd love to have a code for Cosmic Carnage that stops the total gameplay timer (but not the round timer!) that determines whether you get a good or bad ending. If you can figure out where it's stored in RAM and/or what the trigger value is, even better. For trying it out on real hardware I can convert GG code to hex addresses and hardcode it, I guess.

(BTW that's one of the two unsolved mysteries of the 32X I asked about in this thread I started (http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthread.php?20094-Unsolved-mysteries-of-the-32X), along with hoping to figure out what the medals signify in the ending sequence of Metal Head. Unfortunately the thread degenerated into yet another compendium of speculation and arguments over history...)

Tony H

I've made lots of codes for 32x games, but there aren't many debugging tools for it, so some codes are more difficult to make.

Played this game a lot. Very difficult though. Will be making several codes to make it easier.

688 Attack Sub (Genesis)

NOTE:
If you're having trouble figuring out how to start the game: Before you can
start a mission, you must visit the Radio room on the far Left. To exit some
screens, move the cursor to the top-left corner and click Exit.

EJCT-AA24
Master code (improved). Only use if you get a blank/red screen. Probably
not needed on real hardware.

NWBT-AA62
No cavitation. Makes your sub quieter (harder for enemy to find you).

Any chance of invincibility codes for Star Wars Arcade and T-Mek? Or at least something to make the games more beatable, and less controller-smashingly hard?

Coop, finished codes for one of your requests. They should work fine on Gens or Kega Fusion, or you can hack them into your ROM if needed.

Keep in mind that it appears that if you finish levels very quickly, the Tie Fighters become more aggressive on the next level. At least it seemed that way to me.

Star Wars Arcade 32x (U)

B8ZA-AAA4
Start with 15 shields in 32x mode, "Pilot" mode (instead of 7 shields). Shield number will look funny.

FF2DE0:6002
Infinite shields (ie. infinite energy). Note that this looks like a PAR code, but because of the way the 32x works, it is actually an assembly/ROM type code. If you'd like to hack this code into your ROM, go to ROM address $085DDE and change the 91B8 to 6002.

SC9A-D0V8
Kill 5 Tie Fighters for every 1 you shoot down. This allows you to finish the levels faster.

AGYA-AGB8
Start each level with 300 seconds (instead of 200).

EDIT: Here's one more code I made a while back...

SBHT-D61A
Proton energy recharges much faster and gives you more proton energy.

Tony H
10-03-2013, 11:55 PM
Coop, the codes for T-Mek are going to be a little different to use than the ones for Star Wars Arcade. The codes for T-Mek are assembly hacks for the 32x part of the game, and because of that, you are very limited to which emulator they'll work on. The only one I know of is Kega Fusion ver 3.63 or newer. With most other emulators, you'll need to hack the codes into your ROM, along with the 32x master code.

As mentioned below, if you're using Kega Fusion, just enter the codes as shown below and make sure that you turn the codes on, and then reset the game.

The 32x assembly type codes take much longer to make because of very limited debugging tools that are available for the 32x. I'll post them as I make them.

T-Mek 32x

2E3FF0:E805
Start with 5 special weapon ammo (instead of 2). You must activate the code then reset the game.

2DE682:7200
Infinite special weapon ammo. You must activate the code then reset the game.

Tony H
10-04-2013, 11:14 PM
T-Mek 32x

2DE588:7100
Infinite defense. If you're using Kega Fusion, you must activate the code then reset the game.

Tony H
10-05-2013, 12:06 AM
T-Mek 32x

2DE486:7108
Defense meter refills faster. Note that you can easily adjust this code to make the defense meter refill as fast as you want. Just change the "08" at the end of the code to a higher number (use hex numbers). If you're using Kega Fusion, you must activate the code then reset the game.

Tony H
10-05-2013, 01:32 AM
Some new passwords/names for T-Mek 32x

PONG = Defense is always active (Cloak, Reflector, etc), infinite special weapons, infinite shields.

KLUG = Opponents are faster and much harder to kill.

BUGLE = Infinite special weapons, infinite shields, infinite defense.

The Coop

Goddammit. I have to spread rep around? I really wish they get rid of this limit. It's not like we go rep happy here.

Thanks for the codes thus far, Tony, especially the passwords for T-Mek. Bugle was immensely useful (it also seems to speed up how fast you can fire). The 15 shields works well for Star Wars Arcade, but I still got my ass handed to me during the exhaust port run, so I'll try out the infinite shields hack. Got a hex editor you'd recommend to use for that?

I should mention that the five Tie Fighters for every one shot down didn't seem to work. I tried resetting the game after putting in the code and enabling it, but the game wouldn't start back up unless I disabled the code. However, the 15 shields code worked without having to reset anything. Did I do something wrong? This is in Fusion 3.64 by the way.

Tony H
10-05-2013, 12:50 PM
Coop, the Infinite Shield code for Star Wars Arcade doesn't have to be hacked into the ROM with most emulators. I only mentioned that about hacking the Infinite Shields code into the ROM in case someone had a flash cart or SD card where they needed to hack the ROM (the address shown in the code wasn't the same as the actual address in the ROM). Just enter FF2DE0:6002 as a code and it should work fine.

As far as the 5 Tie Fighters for every 1 killed, I only tested that code in the 32x mode - "Pilot" mode. I'll test it again in other modes.

EDIT: Which emulator are you using?

EDIT 2: Also, I don't think you have to reset the game with any of the Star Wars Arcade codes. Just activate them before you select 32x or Arcade mode.

EDIT 3: Just tested the Star Wars Arcade code "SC9A-D0V8 Kill 5 Tie Fighters for every 1 you shoot down" in Kega Fusion 3.64 in all of the different modes and it seems to work fine. The 6th digit in the code is the number zero (not the letter O).

The Coop
10-05-2013, 05:11 PM
Found the problem. Those codes don't like the PAL version of the game, which I somehow had. They work fine in the US version. However, I have come across a new potential issue.

When you take on the Super Star Destroyer, the game always locks up during that stage when playing the 32X mode. I'm not sure if it's the invincibility code, or the "5 for 1" code, but neither seem to cause the 4-stage regular mode to lock up.

Tony H
10-05-2013, 09:59 PM
I never made it to the Super Star Destroyer. If I can get that far, I'll try and figure out what the problem is.

More new passwords/names for T-Mek 32x

REBELRUN = Infinite shield.

PETEROCK = Infinite special weapons, infinite shield, infinite defense.

There are more passwords that appear to give you infinite everything like PETEROCK and BUGLE, so no reason to post them.

I just played further into the game with "Infinite shields", "5 for 1", and "Proton energy charges faster" codes active without any problems. I blew up a Death Star and a Super Star Destroyer and the game didn't lock. I was using Fusion ver 3.64. Not sure why it locked up on you.
