View Full Version : 5 "Untested" Sega Genesis Systems

Just picked these up, I just need my bonus check to go through to pay for them:

I can see at least one HDG model in there, with the possibility of two out of five being HDG models. Nevermind, they're all non HDG models. Oh well, even if they don't work, I can harvest the CXA1145 chips for s-video boxes.

Looks like you got 2 or 3 High Definition ones in there! Coolness!

looks like the one of the bottom right is HDG model. but it must just be the reflection of the one behind it.

i am guessing you asked the seller?

For 20 bucks even if they don't work you can find something cool to do with them.

Nah, it was a good deal either way - I can use them as parts for other projects if they don't work, or I can work my ever improving skills by modding them if they do.

Just got most of the systems yesterday - I'm missing a HDG model. The other two HDG models are in good condition, just a little dirty and scuffed, while the VA 7 models are absolute shit (broken volume control, not booting). Of the two HDG models I've received, I've taken one apart for cleaning, and it boots perfectly. The other one boots as far as I know, but I haven't spent much time with it. I'm in the process of modding the first one now. Unfortunately, both of the systems are TMSS enabled, and I know for sure the one I'm working on is a VA6 according to the motherboard readout. I *may* try my hand at a Neptune mod for one of these units, as the retro store near me has a loose 32x for 7 bucks, although I'm not sure it works. I could always bring in my cords and test it, I guess.

On a semi-related note - I just picked up 5 more units, 4 of which are HDG models for 10.00 bucks plus shipping. I'll report on those once I receive them!

Cool. I'm sure you know what you're doing (more than I do), but I've brought a few Genesis consoles back from just a good cleaning of the cart port.

I hope to come across a non-TMSS HDG model...would consider buying one of your modded ones, so let me know what you get in the next batch...

Will do. I already cut out the AV holes and installed the region switch on one, now I'm waiting on my s-video jacks to arrive - they're a new part from what I've used in the past, so I'm eager to see how things hold up. The two VA7 models are trashed, so they're on the backburner for fixing them up. If anything I can harvest their chips for parts.
