Moved on over to Forum Feedback. :)
Welcome! Always nice to see another Genesis fan here.
I like that idea, and it would give our Record Breakers forum some much-needed traffic.
Thank you! I'm glad to be here.
Here's the official rules...
SEGA GENESIS HIGH SCORE CLUB
OFFICIAL RULES
01) Game Selection.
Each week, a member of the High Score Club will choose a video game. The order of members will go according to who signed up (for the club) when. Ideally, the game will be chosen before Monday, when the thread for the Game will go up. The thread will close at 11:00 PM on Sunday, giving the players a week to try to rack up their best score. Players can play the chosen game either on their Genesis, or through Emulation. Compilation sets will be allowed, as long as it's an approved Genesis compilation.
Example: Say the Game Of The Week is Sonic 2. If you don't own the Sonic 2 cartridge alone, but have a cartridge or ROM for the Genesis that DOES have Sonic 2 on it, you may use that title to play Sonic 2. You may use the Sonic Jam cartridge for Genesis, since it's a Genesis compilation. You may not, however, use the "Sonic Mega Collection+" title for X-box/PS2/GameCube.
02) Submitting A High Score.
All you have to do to submit a High Score is post in the Game Of The Week's thread. Screenshots are perferred, but not required. If you make some completely outstanding claim, like you made The Revenge Of Shinobi's counter roll three times or something, however, I may ask for a screenshot.
In the case of a "Roll" (which is rare in the Genesis world), I'd like to ask for a coherent "before and after" screenshot.
03) Playing The Game.
I will IM the member that gets to choose the next game around Thursday or Friday, asking for their game of choice. On Monday, the thread will go up. You may submit scores until 11:00 PM (Your time zone) Sunday. I would perfer that we not repeat games over and over again.
04) Earning Points In The Club.
At the end of the week, I will find the three highest scores. First Place gets 7 points. Second Place gets 5 points, and Third Place recieves 3. If there are any ties, everyone involved in the tie gets the same amount of points.
Example: There is a tie for Second Place. Both competitors get 5 points.
05) The Whole Point Of This.
The whole point of the High Score Club is to have a hell of a lot of fun playing the Sega Genesis.
Does that answer the questions so far? I hope we're interested enough by Monday... ...it'd be a blast to start playing that soon.
