Hello! If you're reading this then you either clicked the link in my signature, or saw that this thread got a new comment. Welcome! I use this thread as an aggregate for all of my homebrew Genesis stuff. You can reply to this thread, or PM me if you have any comments or questions. Source code for pretty much any of this is also available on request, if it isn't already included. Included are previously released things, things that weren't "big" enough to justify making a new forum post for, and some unreleased/unfinished/abandoned things.

Tiny demo
Simple demo that weighs in at 1392 bytes. It would be 891 bytes if it weren't for the music. Works poorly/crashes on some emulators, but fine on real hardware.

You weren't missing a whole lot. The game was only about 1/3rd developed, and not that great.

The music rips? I'm working on re-launching the project. I know that a lot of the MEGA links are dying, and I wouldn't be surprised if MEGA takes them all down and shuts down my account. Boooo.

Anyway, I'm working on giving proper names for the music that only has the track number. I'm also adding artist, game, and year metadata to all the music, so you can find what you want easier if you just have them in one big folder. Once I do that, I'll start uploading them to filetrip, then I'll have to update the links in the main thread with the new ones. I don't what to just re-upload the music as-is, because now I have a chance to do what I should have done in the first place.

Basically, there is a ton to do before the music rips are all back :(

I love your work! I know developers don't take requests, so this is just a general question: Have you ever considered doing 8-bit style games for this 16-bit platform? I've discussed the issue many times here. I think a port (or clone) of Donkey Kong or Popeye or other arcade classics of that era would be exceptionally well received on the Genesis. The hardware should be capable of MAME-like quality for those games.

I think most coders want to make MUSHA, but I've argued that homebrewers should make Gyruss or Zaxxon. I suspect the development time will be more manageable, and the result would blow away 8-bit ports. I just wanted to know if you had any thoughts on that?

I wanted to do a port of venture (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osTKrmM8JKo) at one point. I only got as far as ripping the sprites before I got sidetracked by other projects. It's still something I would like to do in the future. Dig-Dug and The Tower of Druaga are two of my favorite 8-bit era arcade games. I would love to see those on the Genesis.

8-bit arcade games would probably do well on Genesis. There were a few already. Ms. Pac Man is one I can think of. That port is pretty good from what I can tell.
There is also a 3-pack with pong, centipede, and missile command. The latter two have a lot of slowdown for some reason.

Frogger and Ms. Pacman are among the best loved games for the platform! Frogger is amazing for being faithful to the arcade. The 3-pack was really awful in my opinion, and those titles could still stand to be revisited. But a homebrew like Paul Lee's Berzerk was heaven to me!

So far, I think you're the only developer I know for this platform that's interested in pre-Sonic games. I would LOVE to see Dig Dug or Venture. If you feel you have the skills, I think any ports from that era would be embraced with joy! I would love to see Pacman, Joust, Donkey Kong, Popeye, Kung Fu Master, Robotron and more!

About 8-BIT arcade games on Genesis, Williams Arcade's Greatest Hits is the best Arcade compilation with very faithfull versions of Defender, Defender II, Joust, Robotron and Sinistar (my favorite)

I did not forget that compilation. Did you actually like them? Because I didn't think it was very good at all. I love all of those titles on other platforms, but they were almost unplayable to me on the Genesis.

OFF: Seriously? I think it's awesome and Sinistar from this version plays better than on my copy of Midway Arcade Treasures - Extended Play for the PSP!
