Hi, guys!

We are pleased to introduce you our new game: Griel's Quest for the Holy Porrón.

Griel's Quest is a puzzle game based on a work by Karoshi for MSXDev'05 (http://msxdev.msxblue.com/?page_id=116). Now, the story is an important part, so we are looking for translators to help us translate it to *any* language -your language!-.

The development is over and also some translations; Here are some links in case you want to contribute.

BEWARE SPOILERS!

Throw it into a machine translator after replacing some of the substitute characters in the text dump, then proofread the results and rewrite for the sake of coherence? As long as there aren't a lot of colloquialisms in the text, a direct literal translation should work.

You do know that what machine translators output tends to be even worse than Engrish, right? Like worse than Zero Wing levels in many cases =P

It's like I didn't say "rewrite for the sake of coherence" or something.

But that'd require having somebody who speaks the language (as otherwise you can't tell if something is even correct), at which point you may as well just translate properly from the beginning (it'll likely add up to the same effort or less).

And I also warned against it because there are indeed developers who think that shoving text into Google Translate and copypasting it as-is is a good idea. It's apparently a surprisingly common pitfall =/

I guess a literal translation wouldn't work nor automatics translatios. Jokes, slang and expresions should be localized to be understandable in each language. Translators are free to do it in its own way

A guy used translation software for an English patch for Startling Odyssey II. It was polished up to sound natural after the initial translation, but it's likely a much better localization than Working Design's Samurai Pizza Cats style nonsense.

I'm perfectly fluent in Spanish and would be willing to help out, if you can wait until after July 4.

Is there actually a stage called "Pussy Beach"?

Considering the amount of puns there, machine translation would never work: it needs a human being. And a witty one at that.

I could make the translation to Brazilian Portuguese. I've done a few translations before (mainly manga and academic stuff). Who do I send the script to?
